I saw this in the Event Calendar thread right after it was closed.

Where is this ‘plug-in’?
I can go to the Home page and navigate to ‘Events’ but that seems rather obtuse, and not really a ‘plug-in.’
What am I missing here?

The new event calendar I found is also at the top of Community Events
To kind of summarize what was noted in that announcement, you can creat an event by clicking on the Cog Wheel > Create Event

Thanks. I think the ‘plug-in’ threw me off. I usually associate that phrase with something I have to download and install, like an Adobe Creative Cloud plug-in.
