I7-3770k 1070 video to AMD 5600X worth it

Hi All,

I want to get a bit more overhead for MSFS2020, so considering a mobo/cpu upgrade.

I have an AMD 5600X that I bought a while ago. Wondering if I should get a suitable mobo for the AMD? Or sell the 5600X and consider other options. I will be getting 32gigs ram to go with it. I don’t need to go overboard, just a noticable performance increase over what I have.

Will be running MSFS in 1080 only.

Current specs:

It’s hard to say how much better the 5600X would be in MSFS as I couldn’t find any post-SU5 MSFS benchmarks for the i7 3770K to compare it with. Nonetheless, on raw specs on single core performance the 5600X should be at least 25%, possibly up to 50%, better in MSFS at 1080p, especially with newer and faster RAM.

Until very recently, I was running on an even older i7 2700k with 16 onboard and a 1660 super and was getting 35 to 45 fps at quite reasonable settings too. (1440 27 inch and running the other 3 screens at 1080) There is life in your old bird yet.
