I9-10900k not boosting and very low cockpit fps

Hi all,

I have recently noticed a peculiar drop in performance on my system. My i910900k is supposed to boost to 5.3GHz, but as you can see in the photos not a single core has boosted above 4.8GHz. This has led to very low performance in the cockpit, with the GPU doing very little (RTX 3070), whilst much better performance in the external views.

At cruise, i turned all my graphics options to Low end, and yet only gained around 2 frames (also pictured). Therefore there must be an issue that I need to solve. Anyone have any ideas?

I have 32Gb of RAM also. I feel my PC is good enough to be achieving much better performance than this.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

I have realized a simlar drop in performance. Low frame rates. I reset my graphic options back to default which should have set my frame rate to 90-100fps but it stayed at 14fps.

In fact no matter how I set the graphic options I get 14fps.??

Several cores are at 4.9 GHz in your screenshots though (e.g. 4894.7 MHz), not just 4.8.
The manufacturer boost clocks are the highest possible, usually when only a single core/thread is loaded, so you shouldn’t expect 5.3 GHz in MSFS.
I don’t think anything is wrong with the CPU or its performance per se. The temperatures should also not cause any throttling (lowered performance).

However I do agree that the in-game performance is poor.
How’s the performance in DX11 mode?

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. That seems to have made a difference. Any idea why that might be? also a shame that I have to miss out on frame generation.

Actually I take that back… after takeoff - FPs has fallen to similar than with DX12

I have the same problem on ryzen 5900x rx 6900xt 32gb. I’m afraid this is a terrifying optimization of 777 pmdg.

Yep -10FPS
