The other day, I was flying the DA62 and started to pick up a lot of ice. Rather than using any de-icing fluid, I have decided to descend to warmer air too see how realistic FS 2020 is when it comes to ice melting in warmer temperature. The ice on the wings and the body of the aircraft melted in a very realistic way. However, the ice on the windshield and the windows stayed exactly the same. I had the cabin heat at max. Realisticly the windshield and windows should clear up first because of cabin heat but it did not. I even descended so low where the OAT was 10 degrees C and the the ice on the windows did not change a bit. I think this is a bug.
gotta try DA62 as well since i have one experience with g1000 cessna it did melt even close to -1°c on ground but requires full blast of hot air and some time and ice has melted mid flight as well many times
They probably only have a simple logic to the windshield icing.
If there’s icing on the window, either you turn on the windshield de-ice button, in which case will remove the icing. Or you don’t which the icing will stay.
I don’t think the windshield icing take the cabin heating into account.
Yeah even if cabin heat is not factored in, outside temp should. I expected window icing go away when OAT was +10 degrees C.
It takes a little time for the ice to sublimate even in warmer air, but the ice will clear up after a while if you give it time. I’ve done it several times in GA aircraft.
I doubt that turning on the heater vents do anything to temperature inside the cockpit. Any heater elements on the inside of the aircraft are probably just “window dressing.” I think that “Deicing” is only for the wings and/or props.
But watch the aircraft performance in Little Navmap when you get iced up. It will show the icing structure from worst case 100% to smaller values until all of the ice disappears.
In the Developer menus you can see the icing amount.
Turn the temperature right up and you’ll see it melting (icing numbers reducing)
Cockpit heaters don’t really affect airframe icing.
ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue:
Anti-Ice on this airplane is not working. Turned on max, still get ice on the wings, noise, engine.

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:
- fly the Diamond DA62
- turn on anti-ice (all)
- fly in the clouds and get ice on the plane

Carry over from MSFS 2020. Was never fixed. Be suprised if it ever is.
Cannot find any report from msfs-2020. If you know which one could you please indicate it here ?

Temporary workaround for this issue:
In the controls, bind “SET WINDSHIELD DEICE ON” and press it. It’ll take a few mins but it works for me.
Seems Asobo/ Microsoft prefer quantity to quality
