I just took off from a cloudy location with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner with Icing Effect set to “Visual Only” but once in cruise, I had a very high pitch (like 6°), like when the wing is full of ice. I went into developer mode and turned the Visual Icing slider to 0.000000 and the pitch instantly came back to normal (2°).
“Visual Only” implies that the ice is only visual and does not affect the behaviour of the aircraft no?
So my guess is that we have a “Visual Only” option that does absolutely the same thing as “ON”.
I would like to add that all the Anti-Ice were on the “ON” position and it had been 2h since I left the clouds, but still had ice on the aircraft.
It’s still a annoying problem now.
Are they not going to solve it?
After taking off for 10min, the plane cover a thick ice.
Even I choose the option “Visual only”,
the AOA still up to 15 degrees, and stuck the speed at 250knots…
It is very cool that seen an ice effect, but the de-ice button is for funny?
