NO ONE has anything to gain from this lol. You’re advocating for removing the core function of a simulator.
Ooh i missed this gem earlier. This is why old timers become so apprehensive when they think the sim is turning into a game. Like hotel tango foxtrot does it harm the sense of accomplishment if you can masterfully fly around in a hard to manage tail dragger and then manage to land it beautifully without having to go through career mode?
It’s not elden ring. That ganes focus is on its story. The RPG element. This is not that.

Heh, I constantly show people how the sim can be improved. I’ve actually spent hundreds of volunteer hours fixing things in the sim. Part of what I do I hope feeds back into bettering the product.
But how I choose to stream works well enough. Up until the launch of 2024, there was no career mode, and I’ve had four great years of flying in free flight and demonstrating some real-world scenarios that I can narrate and let people be the judge of how I’m doing. Some might consider that boring, some might need the prospect of a career mode to make things interesting. To me it’s actually less interesting and less engaging, except for pointing out the myriad bugs. I enjoy the heck out of it, otherwise I wouldn’t do it.
I feel much more fulfilled choosing and planning my own flight from start to finish, in poor weather, in a complex aircraft, using antiquated navigation methods, with a live human doing ATC, and pulling it all off while explaining what I’m doing the whole time, to a fairly critical audience; or doing a fly-along sightseeing trip and learning about the history of the people and places we see, than whatever leaderboards and career mode things are happening.
Career mode has potential to be a lot more fulfilling, but it’s not there. For me right now, I’m mostly doing it to help others get the most from it as well as fleshing out the bugs in hopes of making it better.
Introspection. You can gain introspection from listening. I think we’ve hit on a few things here.

I’m not sure if deleting the topic is the right way to go… I understand that the discussion is circling but it could stay and stand for future discussions… If it’s deleted maybe someone else starts the same topic in a few weeks or months from now. At least this discussion shows the feelings about the topic from the community which is a good indicator for MS. Or am I wrong?

I find this thread contains valuable insight into how different users perceive the game - some more or less not as a game but as a way to acheive some personal goals, and that’s just fine.
I respect the OP’s position, and I hope he can continue to enjoy the sim by using the Career Mode to get type qualified for any aircraft before he allows himself to solo that one in Free Flight mode. Such rules should be self-imposed, not by Asobo.
