I would grade it D or D-
Framework was provided which in some conditions runs but few of the stated levels of reality were not reached.
WInds not correct
Airports Missing
Airports misnamed taxiways.
Autopilot
Aircraft response to turbulence…if that exists
No use of proper flight levels transition altitude or correct barometer setting
Poor scaling in that the content servers are not available die to the delivery of this patch.
Note…this is not the fault of individual developers, It is a higher level problem.
A++ for marketing…
A+ for marketing, C- for reality. However, the grade can move up because the semester isn’t over yet, if they fix things that I want fixed lol
A student makes a flight sim that makes billions, and leads to billions more in hardware sales.
He manages to use satellite imagery, and AI to interpret that imagery, on a global scale to set a new standard for flight sim scenery design.
He has the capacity to offer seamless multiplayer to all players, for free.
He manages to offer live weather around the world, to all players, at any time, for free.
He gets over 200,000 people wanting to watch his game on Twitch.
And he does all this simply as a “project”.
…
…And you’re going to nearly fail him because some taxiways aren’t named correctly, and all the technologies he’s managed to put together are a bit buggy. You’d be a garbage professor.
Any student that pulls off this flight sim as a “project”, I’m giving him an A, his degree, and a job.
A+++++ for everything !!!
And I stand by your opinion, 100% 110%
I’m waiting until the end of the semester for my final opinion. But much like a freshman’s 1st year it’s starting out rocky.
C-. While there are some bugs to be fixed and improvements to be made, overall it has been one giant leap forward for the franchise.
A+. University let’s you demo it from your own computer and they barely grade anything on these projects.
Real world: C-. I wish metacritic would add some kind of buginess score to it.
Very well said, my feelings exactly… A++. For Innovation alone in going BEYOND expectations. Yes there are a few “misspellings” in that college project, but the work is an ongoing project, and I eagerly await supplementary updates.
Wow- harsh critics here.
A++ for incredible innovation- this simulator stands on its own, in a class by itself. Sure, there are some issues to be worked out, many pretty serious- but every pilot I know including myself is VERY happy at the progress so far.
This is evolutionary, and it will continue to evolve. It’s kinda like the first Falcon 9 that successfully flew. Long way to go, but WOW it’s going to be a heck of a ride.
D- for sure
You wouldn’t care about your grade anymore because you released the project half baked to the public, made $100m+, washed your hands of the whole thing and disappeared to live a great life.
Maybe you learned to fly IRL, where the chances of crashing are exponentially lower than they are if you use this “simulator”
Definitely a 1st
A+ from me. This sim is awesome.
summa cum laude!!
Triple A+ A+ A+
A++ because their parent is a multi-billion dollar, multi-national company that can buy the favour of all “independent assessors” with honey comb yokes and such.
After over 100 flight hours logged already, I’d say it’s definitely a 1st, just missing out on a distinction because of the rocky release and bugs, although the release date would have been in MS’s hands, not the developers.
To be honest I wasn’t expecting this to release until next Spring, so I’m very happy with it in it’s current state now, despite the irritations and annoyances. Come next spring it will be all smoothed out and the team will be able to look more towards new features and improvements rather than having to spend all their time bug hunting and fixing.
University Grades are now A, B, C?
