If you own Steam version MSFS. Is the Xbox version of MSFS free?

Does ownership of the steam PC version of MSFS also grant you access to the console version free of charge?

Sadly no :frowning:
The steam edition is seperate to the Xbox/Microsoft version.
If you have Gamepass, you get the game on both.
If you buy the game on the Microsoft Store, you also get it through Microsoft’s Play Anywhere.
But Steam is seperate sadly!

Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox FAQ

Will my Marketplace purchases carry over to the Xbox version?

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator will be updated on all available platforms to feature cross-save timed with its launch on Xbox Series X|S, allowing players to transfer DLC that was produced by Microsoft/Asobo and progress over to whichever platform they prefer. DLC produced by third-party developers might be transferable, but that is a decision made by each third party development team.
  • NOTE: DLC purchased on a Steam version will not work on Xbox.

To be fair, cross-platform ownership is very, very rarely a “thing” in gaming. Buying software on Steam generally does not give you access to it on other clients like Epic, Origin, or MS, or on other hardware like XBox or Playstation. Sometimes you can use client-bought software independently from that client if it features it’s own custom launcher (like BoS, for example) but often no vice versa.

Interesting statement, but it’s not really related to the original question. Being able to use in-game DLC content and progress saves cross-platform is actually fairly common. But the OP was asking whether the base sim will be available free on XBox to Steam owners. The answer to that is no.

LOL. No.

If you have game pass, you can continue playing it on series x.

If you purchased the deluxe version or upgrade using Game Pass Ultimate through Microsoft store you can convert it over and download.

For steam version, no.
