iFly 737 MAX is coming to MSFS

Via a link on their Discord:

Ifly manager - link in their discord channel, Apparently they are testing the purchase mechanism within the ifly manager as a result it is not publicly announced anywhere. I don’t anticipate the actual release to take long either, it could be later today or tomorrow.

It was Ryanair indeed - If Ryanair is not there then I’ll probably wait for official release.

There’s already a Ryanair set with cabin on Flightsim dot to.

Oh yeah found it thanks - In that case I will get this when I get back home later this evening, who knows it might get release officially by then!

A word of caution they are having server issues already processing the purchases

Ok, I’ve just taken off EPWA on my way to Heathrow and my first impressions are generally very positive. The modelling and texturing is absolutely breathtaking. The performance seems to be very good, though PMDG 737 or Fenix A320 are a little bit smoother for me. After many years of flying the PMDG 737 it takes some getting used to though, mainly how the switches operate - even two positions switches must be set with a mouse wheel, just clicking doesn’t do anything and sometimes made me freak out that the panel froze  The ground handling is too sensitive in my opinion, PMDG feels a bit more natural. FMC still needs some work apparently but it’s quite good too. I struggle with the EFB though, it’s just an old design and not intuitive, but again, I’ll get used to it. Hand flying is wow. For me it even feels better than PMDG. It has this heavier feel. The sounds are awesome too. Well, probably my new favourite aircraft in the sim for now…

Thanks for the write-up. Performance is good and all seems to function well. Haven’t taken it up in the air yet, but that will come soon enough. The mousescrolling for switches will take some time to getting used to. And for me it’s only for disabling switches.

My real issue now is that EFB. Oh my…

Yes, most airlines know why they replaced that with their own EFB’s

Those got added after the first release. I’m flying one of them now. I agree with you about the EFB. Ugh. It’s a UX nightmare. Lots of functionality but a real PITA to use. Plane flies nicely, modeled well, but also much heavier on performance for me than the PMDG NG (like 5 - 10 fps worse on the ground with the same settings). Sounds are fantastic. I’m in climb to FL370 now en route.

I’m assuming that those of us with lots of PMDG 737NG experience can very quickly get this plane up in the air, mainly needing to learn the EFB?

Right so fun begins - I bought it and I must say I am quite impressed with how ifly have modelled such a wonderful airplane. In terms of performance I was bit worried as my system is not perfect compared to modern standards but I must say it performs a lot better then I had anticipated. Smooth performance with little to no FPS drops as well as quite reasonable on my CPU too. I see myself doing quite a lot of Max flights in next couple of days (mostly Ryanair stuff)

Above I’m climbing out of Stansted on a reposition flight to EGNX East Midlands

LNAV tracking is spot on - although with few finer adjustments, this can get a lot better.

Testing out the Hold function - It works perfectly, Holding over PIGOT as published

Simulating radar vectors to final approach to ILS 09

Base turn for RWY 09

Fully Established on ILS 09 with landing checks completed

Touch down - I must say in terms of flying by hand, it is perfect nice and smooth no glitches whatsoever, Rudder is bit ted sensitive but I’ll alter my pedal settings later

If you have flown 737ng then flying MAX is a lot easier - after all they are similar to 737ng the only exception is different engines and massive screens in flight deck (Some differences in systems but they are relatively minor). IRL pilots don’t have different type rating for MAX - they share common type rating with 737ng, pilots then wishing to fly MAX have to do differences training which takes couple of days.

After a quick SWA flight from KCOS to KDEN, I’m impressed. Some little things I’d like to see fixed, auto throttle lock out being one of them, but overall a nice product. Sounds are juicy!

Same performance wise as the Fenix, 58-60fps whilst the NG is a solid 60 so not bad there!

Looking forward to exploring this more but for now, back to the real world.

Happy flying y’all!

Which qas a rather disaistrous sellingpoint though, in terms of mcas-functionality unknown to pilots.

Happy to see fellow-simmer happy but I must say that I cant get used to those cockpit sceeens. Same with the 787. Its just not for me I feel… Any thoughts from the community there?

I’m double-minded about this: for General Aviation, I prefer analog gauges plus a Garmin GTN750 over a G1000 all-glass cockpit. For tubeliners, I like the full-glass display, so will look forward to the iFly Max (and have enjoyed the Asobo 787 and Horizon mods).

Yes MCAS in the beginning was a bit of challenge but nowadays - differences training will cover MCAS functionality in detail and in fact previously this was also covered to some extent. In sim however I don’t think Ifly has simulated MCAS functionality or I could be wrong and they might have but the other day I was watching a youtuber (Real IRL Captain on Max) commenting that MCAS has not been simulated on Ifly’s version.

In terms of large displays - It is personal preference, I personally prefer the smaller NG screens.

Keen to hear from anyone who buys this having never flown a Boeing before and only Airbus. In particular how you get in with the cockpit.
