I’ve tried to perform an IFR flight in and out of Innsbruck with one of the many G1000 Single Engine Pistons out there. Not impressed to say the least, loads of problems and annoyances as below:
The G1000 lacks functionality, when selecting a LOC / ILS frequency, unable to select CRS (maybe thats just how the G1000 functions, not the versions I have flown but anyway the automatically selected course is wrong).
OEJ LOC not working (except DME), OEV has the wrong course and is lined up with the runway (should be offset).
Unable to switch off the annoying head movements, hard to scroll anything into the G1000 in clouds and turbulence. The camera system remains a pain, having to press the wanted fixed camera position 3 times before going to the correct zoom, position and orientation.
Its just not a pleasure to fly, also weird that such an iconic airport as Innsbruck does not have the correct navaids and localizer courses working. The graphics as expected are stunning of course. Back to flying VFR I guess…

Asobo, I believe you read the forums. Please include the manual provided to the media purchases so as to assist new users with the ins and outs of the software. It’s the VERY LEAST you should do.

Does that make IFR flying better?

I am also limiting myself to VFR and basic VOR/ADF navigation these days and try to avoid the G1000 cockpits altogether.
Have you tried switching off CAMERA SHAKE in the GENERAL->CAMERA settings? I have not tried that myself but hear that it is supposed to at least get rid of some of the head movement.
As far as the fixed camera positions are concerned, I have the impression that each position not only saves the desired view but (sometimes?) also remembers the last view you panned to from there. However, this happens only when you go to a camera position, pan around, and then select the same position again. If you switch between different camera positions, the correct position should be recalled on the first try.
Once you get used to the idiosyncracies of the camera system, I have to say I find it quite useable.
Yeah tried the camera shake, the image does not get completely steady even with that set to OFF. And the fixed camera positions are just buggy I think. I have had cases where I switched aircraft and my camera positions were outside of the cockpit and I couldn’t fix that. Guess it will get fixed some day.
Surprising and disappointing that course can’t be manually adjusted to the correct runway if required.
Not in LOC / ILS mode for some reason in VOR mode you can, could be that the real G1000 does the same? I haven’t flown any G1000 aircraft myself for a couple of years now, no clue how many iterations further they are. But at least in Innsbruck the courses are incorrect and that might not be a G1000 issue since the OEV course itself is actually incorrect in FS2020. OEJ courses are incorrect and OEJ itself is not working at all, only DME.

This is normal, also in XP11 I must confirm. All is set automatically with defined heading in FS DB. You did comparing with actual charts?

A little is an understatement. There is no proper IFR in this game at present.
I fly with my buddy VFR because he enjoys GA and I enjoy flying with him. However I’m not using this sim solo at all as I primarily like to fly commercial airliners. Not GA aircraft and not the Scarebus with only half the functions working.

Yes I did compare it with actual charts, its wrong.

Show pls chart or better what type app, will look for my curiosity. We simply know that some bugs can be presented.
Just a moment, if you look to my post I didn’t answer to you my friend

I can’t send you a copy of the chart as its official Navblue from what we are using for real on the flight deck, I’m sure you can find some Jeppesen plates just by googleing. These are the correct parameters:
- OEV - 111.10 - front course 255
- OEJ - 109.70 - front course 066, back course 244 (yes there is a few degrees difference between front and back course)

Yes,
are aligned with runway heading. Heh bad problem will be totally offsetted more than 20 deg but as this is also offsetted app due terrain not horrible. I expect some not correct values everywhere probably (will check in my country) but in case of aligned with runways +/- this can be problem in case of terrain in vicinity of full glide track started. I must fly it to see but you did already? Is any problem with terrain there?
I used to fly in Innsbruck for real, there is a definitely a reason for the approach to be offset…

Yes understand that of course…
Update: yes we can speculate about safety sectors aligned with app but in FS is expecetd this be corrected, especially here
understand that.
It will give people the knowledge they need to use the various features in the sim. So many are fishing for assistance on how to address something in the sim that might not be obvious. Armed with the knowledge of how to achieve a task, clearly supports if it works or has a problem. IFR flying requires the need to understand how to use the navigation equipment in the aircraft but in addition, knowledge of how to set up the simulator to support your requirement is important.
I agree, but that doesn’t solve the problem I’m posting or does it?
Navaids having wrong localizer front and back courses or simply not working, with head movement switched OFF there is still head movement, custom camera positions not working… Those are bugs.

Yes,
as I said before and hope all we enjoy this product, all bugs need to be send for update. Can I include my self to experienced users, we are here to improve it for all. Constructive talk and bug confirming is way…
