Well spotted! This is specifically for users on the SU2 Beta Branch, where you will now receive extra credits to allow you the opportunity to buy as many planes as possible and test as much as possible.

Of course there is the caveat that as announced in the Release Notes for v1.4.7.0, any progress or credits from the SU2 Beta Branch will NOT carry over once the SU2 Beta is finished, and you will revert back to your progress state prior to entering into the beta!

Yes, I thought that was the reason. No problem, my true career is frozen until SU2 is released.

… and now I’m buying planes as if there is no tomorrow.

But please activate passengers’ missions.

And if we don’t want that,?

Um, then don’t beta test Career mode? Do you really want to spend months grinding in Career mode to test some planes in Freelance mode only to lose it once SU2 beta is done? For example, smack the 737 into buildings and the ground at various speeds (over and over in a fit of revenge) to test if insurance is working properly yet?

You know that everything you do in SU2 Career mode will be GONE once SU2 is over right? It doesn’t carry over to the non-beta game.

You could also just consider 1 billion = 0 and keep score from there and don’t spend that 1 billion.

I know all that, and I don’t mind. I want this sim to be reliable and also want to test planes and missions and also want to have a long and prosper career built with effort. There’s no problem if I go back to my real career after SU2 is released. Nobody is forced to participate in the Beta.

Now I’m testing other kind of missions that I’m not really interested in for my true career; I won’t pay a single credit for an advertising company, but in the Beta is free. Why not testing it?

Ha, I thought this was a bug. I actually really don’t like that and I’m going to leave the beta because of this. I suspect I’m not the only one. I would prefer you kept it like it was with SU1 beta when I could continue my normal career while using the beta. I am bummed because I was interested in the SU2 beta to try out the FFR/DFR features, and finally get a working EFB in VR, among other things. Getting all this money and unlocked missions feels like it would spoil the fun of the progression. Also, it would suck to spend a few weeks not building my career progression.

Could you add an option to opt out of this and build toward my normal career, while still being on the beta?

Why do we have all the Certifications too? I mean I wanted to PROVE I can fly IFR and at night and all the other certifications.

You can prove that when you leave the beta program, as this sets career back to your own one. Here in beta you have everything available directly to just start testing for problems in all career modes.

And nothing stops you from "re-"taking the certification tests to beta test them. But like you said, what happens in Beta stays in Beta – you’d need to take them for real in the Live version.

What always stumps me is that they couldn’t communicate this in the game as you enter Career mode for the first time after this change? They literally can’t write any code that throws a message up saying:

Welcome to BETA Career mode:

In order to allow you fully test the functionality of this mode, essentially all levels and aircraft of career mode has been unlocked and your career mode progress in non-beta mode has been put on pause. This is a beta version change only, and if you would like to return to your personal career, please leave the BETA programme.

Hello @nickmcpilot,

This change for the purpose of beta testing was very clearly communicated in the Release Notes right at the very top. We understand that the SU2 beta notes are very long and that most people will naturally scroll through the bullet points as they scan for items that are of particular interest to them, but it’s not an unreasonable expectation for anyone who chooses to participate in the beta to at least read the important messaging at the top of the notes.

Thanks,

The same release notes that I gave up on in FS2020 when all I got was “Error” when a new version came out (the majority of the time because clearly the link that loaded the update info was broken) or the same generic “Welcome to Flight Simulator, this release notes contains NO release notes, just platitudes”. The Release Notes are not worth the paper their written on the way they’ve been so poorly used since their inception in FS2020.

They’re released very selectively and even after an update don’t seem to change so why should I look at them, if they’re all-in-all, fairly useless.

Please understand I’m not taking this out directly on you, so please don’t take this personally, you’re relaying information and you’re receiving my frustration about a very bad product in return.

I write this while I’m waiting for a flight to load in “stable branch” and I’m sitting at the loading screen for the last 20 minutes, and nothing is happening.

@nickmcpilot,

The full release notes for every beta build are found in the Beta News section of the forums here:

This is also the same link we use when we amplify the news of a new beta build being available on our social networks like Facebook, Threads, and Twitter.

I reluctantly opted out of the beta because I wanted to get back to my normal career progression. I confirm that I’m back to the XP and money I had before, but the office I’m in is still the top of the line conference room with luxury appetizers. For some reason the office setup was not reverted back. It’s really not a big deal, but thought I would mention it.
I reiterate that unlocking everything in career mode when you opt in for the beta is a deal breaker for me and probably anyone who enjoys playing in career mode.

Hello @BlueSc0rpi0,

We understand this concern. Public betas are for players in the community who wish to help test unfinished, work-in-progress pre-release builds and report any issues/bugs they encounter. For everyone who wishes to continue using the sim normally (including in Career Mode), we encourage you to remain on the regular release build.

Thanks,
MSFS Team
