I'm Considering a New Monitor for my Existing MSFS Machine

I have almost the monitor you are thinking about. It’s good, quality is there, but don’t have a large enough field of view. I was thinking of the ASUS 49" one on AMZN for around 900. But that is next year. I need to reorganize my desk to better work for Throttle Quadrant, new joystick stuff and down the road the HC Yoke. So not getting monitor till I know I can accommodate that stuff.

Search for article about aspect ratio’s so you understand it correctly, I learned some things. And nothing less than 144Hz or higher will be good enough to drive/refresh a large screen, that raises the price. If you want 4K, you will need higher still, like 240 for that. Keep old monitor for putting smaller windows, i.e., VFR map, ATC on that so you can keep main screen clear to fly in.

Now does the Video card run more than one? Check Amazon for a Totu hub which will run 4K displays using the USB-C port. I have that (one monitor out of the Laptop) but I did try the HDMI ports works fine. It can be powered, and you will need to do that if running two monitor out of it.

Oh, it should be noted, used to be Samsung made like 65% of all the screens used by manufacturers, don’t know if that is now true, but lots of companies don’t make their own screens, very expensive process, try to find out who they get them from. So MSI’s panel could be a Samsung panel, and who knows on the other things inside.

Check reviews, some of the best one have poor reviews, Samsung big 49" one particularly. Bleeding white around the edge, and customer support was not as robust as I would have expected from them. If warranty support needed, you do not get a “new one”, you get a remanufactured one. You drop serious $$$$, and it’s not good, then get one which was bad, and they fixed it??? So suggest you make sure place of purchase will take back the old one and give you a new one, or refund money.
