I'm impressed with the new boatcars

No one in testing noticed this on the Featured flight with the new update?

noticed this on the discovery flight too, the bridges looks horrible.

yes noticed also, very ugly bridges around Manhattan and car traffic in the water

Yeah, I saw that a couple days ago, too. The watercars are sailing on what used to be the Tappan Zee bridge. The new bridge, Gov. Mario Cuomo Bridge, was built alongside of it. I donā€™t see any cars driving on that oneā€¦ (probably because of the tolls  )

Over-water bridges also serve as dams in MSFSā€¦ Theyā€™ve gotta fix that.

Agreed. I also noticed this on the East Coast adventure. I know that they are attempting to show some sort of shadow under the bridges but they look a lot like dams. Oh, and parts of them are underwater.

I was flying the discovery flight and spotted some movement beside the bridge. I thought, ā€œCool! Boats are moving now!ā€ Then as I got closer I realized what it was :slightly_frowning_face:

The nice thing about the new bridges is that Iā€™m no longer tempted to fly under them. I guess thatā€™s one way to fix it?

I meanā€¦ the graphics could be worse

When you need to compare something that is 30 plus years old to make a point it sort of scraping the bottom of the barrel . The reality is that this is 2020 nearly 2021. I enjoyed the flight sims back then as I did not expect what we have today.

Lol, guess sarcasm was lost with my post.

I donā€™t need to do anything.

I donā€™t own the game yet, so is nice that several bugs and glitches will be ironed out for when I do buy it. Maybe this one will be fixed, too :+1:

Yeah I guess it was sorry but so many people here trash anyone that criticises MSFS with the idea it is so much better the FS 1 to FsX and miss the point the world has moved on massively in terms of what we expect from a simulator. Me well I fool around occasionally with MSFS but it still lacks the functions I have in other simulators such as VR and helicopters and proper IFR . They might be coming but they are not included as yet so this sim is still only partially finished and has a lot of stability issues for some of us. One update locked me out for two weeks with a CTD . Itā€™s gone now but with no reply from the zen desk I have no idea why it occurred . Thatā€™s unacceptable as is the fact that helicopters are now delayed 2 years when they were promised as a priority. I would hate to see what something that is not a priority takes to be delivered !

I miss the ability to fly under bridges from the old Flight Simulator.

Soon found that out ā€¦

I miss the ability to SEE under bridges

Yeah, thatā€™s too bad. Iā€™m surprised helicopters are still two years away?? I have a feeling it wonā€™t be so far away; even if theyā€™ve recently said that. Surely, theyā€™ll have at least one helicopter within six months or so. It might be a case of ā€œunder promise; over deliver.ā€

I canā€™t imagine a higher-up/exec being okay with the thought of helicopters being two years away if they knew that was the case or once they find out thatā€™s the case.

I donā€™t spend much time in the forum here, so didnā€™t know so many MSFS critics get trashed. I really was just having fun with my screenshots from yesteryear. Iā€™m definitely not okay with current MSFS bridges having blocks of polygons underneath so you canā€™t fly under them or admire their true beauty. I can see how itā€™d be a conundrum for their 3D algorithm, though; and hope itā€™s something that can be fixed without a ton of manual labor.

The simulator/game is a crazy technical achievement, and I get the sense they plan to support, update, and fix it for months/years(?) to come yetā€¦ so solid bridges (and boat cars), are likely a couple things theyā€™d like to address soon or at some point. I canā€™t imagine they donā€™t see room for improvement there and have no desire to improve it. Itā€™s good to have the above example, though, no doubt.

As for IFR, I was under the impression it had good IFR? I admit, though, I donā€™t really know anything about IFR or why itā€™s important (Iā€™m just not familiar at all with it), but I remember this MSFS video from a while back: Feature Discovery Series Episode 8: IFR. Seems like they spent a lot of effort on IFR. If itā€™s not good yet, I hope it is made better over time for players who want it.

I agree the world has moved on in terms of what to expect from a simulator. And part of that, personally, is that I would want more game modes and challenges. Purely flying around is nice, and Iā€™ve owned several flight sims and games before, but I would like more interaction than just taking off, admiring scenery for a while, and landing. Iā€™m not a pilot in real life and am not looking to hone my skills when not flying. Iā€™m a gamer. Iā€™d want a ā€œno stallingā€ cheat code, as well as several challenges and game modes Iā€™ve seen in past sims Iā€™ve played. Donā€™t get me wrong, though. I appreciate the ā€˜true simā€™ vibe and endeavor, and love that it is a ā€˜simulationā€™ as its foundation. When I own it, I will love playing the true sim experience. However, as a gamer, I will also want other modes to help with the overall experience; assuming some that I want arenā€™t already in it.
