In Development - MiG-25 Foxbat by Aviasim/GKS

Day one purchase here as well.

It looks fantastic and the tutorial video is really very good to get started, what an amazing aircraft and how many cool things and system are modeled, impressed.

Sometimes I think that for a dev getting a 3D model of some plane, sticking some of the very nice WT avionics suite and calling it a product is a really easy route and the risk is that we will start to have a lot of planes that are very similar to each other.

So I really appreciate when a dev produces something that is completely different like this one.

Did he write “this week” ?
I hope this is released this thursday, really looks awesome!

A comment from the dev team on youtube said it should hit the marketplace tomorrow (thursday) unless there is a delay by MS in processing.

I presume that the weapons “patch” will then also be hosted on the dev’s website.

This plane looks fantastic overall, with the exception that I understand it may use default (F-18?) sounds. I’m ok with that though considering it’s likely not possible to get a full recording (in quality) of a jet of this class.

on Youtube they commented: 26.09.2024

Won’t be home for another 3-4 hours yet, so I’m asking…did this make the cut-off for release today? Any initial impressions if so?

It has been released on the Marketplace a few hours ago it seems.
I’m on my way to buy it, but I won’t be able to fly it tonight.

Yes, it was released!
Looks awesome, just getting started with it and mapping keys, etc. The exterior model is really something and the cockpit looks very very nice.

Thanks. Will have to obtain it shortly. I checked and it doesn’t appear their website is hosting a weapons patch yet. I would have expected that to be staged for same day release, but hopefully we’ll see it in the coming day.

Oh cool I’ve been looking forward to this one.

Update: This is a fun one! Got it up to nearly 80K and could probably hit that and more with a better flight profile. The aircraft is beautiful inside and out, with seemingly realistic system, wonderful cockpit system sounds, etc. Lovely stable platform to fly at both low and high speeds, and the liveries are diverse too. Just waiting for that weapons visibility update and we’ll be golden. This will be a regular flyer!
I think it’s even easier to start than the MiG-21, and to land as well.

I’ve been flying this all night and having a blast. Seems to have a lot of systems depth and feels like a proper rocket ship, as it should. Beautifully modeled, inside and out. Just a really impressive module with a lot of hard work put into it.

Sounds great! Does anyone know if the weapons pack will be compatible with the Marketplace version?

I’m torn as to whether to get it now in the marketplace and wait for the weapons patch, or wait for a third party release…

Very positive feedback here has sold me on it.

You can download and use WP patch from F111. It does work for foxbat as well.

Next week we will update WP patch and upload a flight manual

I’m writing a very early review because, wow!

The exterior model and textures are just out of this world, with the drone camera near you can feel the plane is a giant chunk of beautiful metal, it is really terrific.

Interior is awesome, with a great cockpit and the systems are simulated to great depth, the navigation system is custom, the autopilot works amazingly probably one of the most realistic APs I’ve seen for a jet in MSFS.

The plane might look intimidating first but after a couple of starts it is really easy to get going from cold and dark it flies very well and of course it can go almost MACH 3 and about 80.000ft. I didn’t try a zoom climb yet to see what it can do.

This is really a beautiful work by GKS absolutely recommended and a blast of fresh air for the sim.

OK, cool, thanks for the reply, will buy it now

Awesome! Will try that. You may want to advise users on the youtube video as well.

So I really pushed the thing and had the engines cut to idle when I got near 80K at high speed, and then I was able to recover and reobtain full thrust after a slight decent. Not sure if that was a fluke but it seemed convincing.

I’ve been greasing the landings too by following the airspeed parameter range in the video. Super easy (and easier than the Fishbed).

This thing is going to be a regular favorite. Also, even though it uses the default F-18 sounds, they just seem to work. Loud afterburners, sonic boom sound when panning front to back and over the sound barrier, etc etc. I’m happy with it!

Also…I think this will really open up Russia (and other large countries) to me, considering the speed. Politics notwithstanding, the country is super boring to fly over, but there are a ton of “payware quality” freeware airports all over, as well as some good legit payware offerings (I just flew from the new Digital Design Pulkovo - St Petersburg to a good Murmanks), so I won’t have to trudge along for 3-4 hours.

As for cut to idle the engines at an altitude of over 80К, this is a limitation of the engines configuration in MSFS.
Apparently, the sim was not designed for flights at such high altitude and we were unable to bypass this limitation.

However, this is not much less than its real ceiling of 82K. In addition, it is still possible to perform the Dynamic Climb maneuver by accelerating the aircraft at an altitude of 80K and take off higher due to the accumulated energy.

Regarding the sounds, they are not quite default. Indeed, we took the sounds from the F18 as a basis, but we added custom sound libraries. The sounds inside the cockpit, the environment sounds and the afterburner sounds are unique. Of course they are not the best ever but differ from default ones.
Probably we will make the comparison video with F18 to show the diference.
