While flying I’ve noticed that there is barely any sound INSIDE the cockpit. Once you go to an external view you get decent engine sounds. But while inside the aircraft it is virtually silent. Is there a setting I’m missing? Is this a new “feature” I flew from OKC to DFW the other day and it was quite audibly challenged, almost sleepy.
You can adjust the various sim sound settings in Options, General, Sound.
You may also have selected “headphone” which makes the cockpit sound similar to that which a pilot wearing headphones would hear, very little background noise.
Let us know if this helps!
Depending on what type of airframe you are flying, the engine sounds could be behind you and not as predominant. The FBW A320 mod does a very good job with engine sounds inside the flight deck, as well as the WT CJ4.
This is why flying first class is much more comfortable than economy behind the engine.
If you want engine noise, sit in the rear of an MD80 or such!!
I’ve done that a few times IRL, they are noisy.
Or when as a passenger in a dash8 and the pilots are prop deaf!
Very loud and annoying!
What happens if all the volume levels are at 100% and the ‘Headphone Simulation’ is switched off? Any ideas?
Do you have the output device settings properly set?
If so, does this happen with any particular aircraft?
Do you have “Spatial Sound” on or off?
Tried the sim with an empty Community folder?
