The other day for the first time I experienced the new sound update where I could hear the engine on the way to mach 1, then when I I reached mach 1, in external pov, I would hear the sonic boom, and then silence! That’s just how it’s supposed to happen in real life. I was thrilled to experience this, especially when I wasn’t expecting it, as it was always hearing the engine, and then silence, and the only time I would hear the “boom” was if I already was past mach 1 and I was changing between external points of view.
Unfortunately, those awesome correct sounds, only lasted that one day. Now when I break mach 1, it’s just silence with no sonic boom. How it previous was
Actually this boom sound in Flight Simulator has very little in common with real physics. It is obvious that you can actually hear the boom effect when you travel slower than sound i.e. when you are on the ground or below supersonic airplane sitting in another airplane flying slower than 1 Mach. So, if say - the idea of the sound outside the plane provided by FS is that you travel as an observer in a kind of imaginary drone following your airplane with the same supersonic speed - you shouldn’t hear anything no mater from which side of the airplane are you I guess FS in order to make an enjoyable feeling of supersonic travel created a sound that appear when you move outside camera from the front to the tale of the plane when you roughly cross the “boom” high pressure soundwaves pattern produced usually by supersonic airplane, but in fact no matter from which side of the supersonic airplane you are – when you also travel with supersonic speed – you shouldn’t hear anything from outside, also the sound of engines of the airplane you following with the same speed. When you are inside the supersonic airplane you can only hear sounds which propagate through the air in your cockpit, as this air travels with your speed inside the airplane. But go somehow outside and there should be just a silence.
You would only hear a “Sonic boom” as a sound wave hits your ear drums. Inside the aircraft moving faster than the speed of sound the sound wave would be quite some way behind you therefore you would not hear a sonic boom.
Its physics
I love this plane and fly it often. Im running the sim on PC. At full throttle I don’t see an afterburner at all. Throttle is maximum and the performance is there, but no afterburner effect. My buddy flys the plane on Xbox and has cool afterburner effects. Any ideas on how I can fix this issue? Thanks.
FYI. All other jets I own with afterburners show the effect at max throttle…
NOTES ON THE F-35 LIGHTING MARKETPLACE (and criticism) AND OUR DISCORD SERVER
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Since the latest F-35 update was released by Microsoft yesterday (after multiple delays) and in the past few hours we have received a couple of recurrent questions about it, we thought it was better to provide a small FAQ list:
Q - AFTER THE UPDATE THE AFTERBURNER DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE!
A - This is because we have introduced the afterburner detent (TOGGLE AFTERBURNER) feature. This is a feature we have avoided so far (along with the NWS - which we are looking to introduce in future) as we thought it was not practical… but we changed our mind: it is useful and simple to setup, but it is also easy to remove it if you do not like it.
Copy-paste from the IFE Facebook page from 9th june.
Hope this helps
IFE’s F-35 is one of the best Add-Ons for MFSF 2020, in particular in interaction with the carriers from Miltech Simulations.
Yesterday I downloaded Update 1.2.7 via SimMarket.
There is an issue with the B variant on moving carriers:
Upon switchung to HOVER mode or after vertical landing in hover mode the aircraft slips over the deck as it is suddenly stopped in the inertial earth system and the carrier continues moving.
This issue did not exist in version 1.2.6.
I’m glad having saved the previous version.
While i completely agree with your logic, my problem still exist whether you are okay with the sims limitation or not.
If other people have sound features that are 90% realistic, i shouldn’t have to get 65%. We should all be hearing/having the same features under the same circumstances, type of gaming system being moot.
Anyone else have an issue where as soon as you lift off via SVTOL mode she’s immediately leaning portside? Is there a trim setting I’m missing? Thanks all. o7
EDIT: Also I’m getting a sound bug during startup where all the sound just cuts out for a few seconds and then continues like normal.
