I’m using Microsoft flight simulator on Xbox series X, also I don’t have special peripheral devices for flight Sims.
Using A or B to set thrust is nearly impossible in this aircraft. I tried also the calibration settings for like half an hour with no success in any settings. The throttle tends to jump around, the calibration is intended for analogue inputs.
Will this be fixed? Is iniBuilds even aware of that?
Here’s one of the bug reports from the beta with some tips on how to get it to work:
I saw that and also tried that.
It won’t really fix it. It will jumps to max settings for me (clicking button A for example)
I really hope that gets fixed as I want also to enjoy this new version of the aircraft.
I don’t use the controller as I have the Turtle Beach Velocity One Flight Stick but many people were able to fly the V2 during beta using the controller so there is a way. I hope you find a solution.
I personally don’t use the calibration tool as it’s - as you said - for analog throttle levers. What I do, before firing up the aircraft:
- Press A once. The throttle jumps to CLB (or FLX, doesn’t matter).
- Press A+B. This brings back the levers to idle.
After this the levers move more or less normally. Still too fast, although you only have to hit FLX on takeoff and then CLB for the rest of the flight (6 presses on the B button - I flew so much I now know this by heart).
The levers also have a tendency to be “stuck” at the idle position. This is because there’s now both “reverse idle” and “flight idle” positions, and there’s some mechanical thingy in the throttle that’s simulated. So if you feel it’s stuck then just keep pressing A, or press it repeatedly a few times until it moves up a notch. I find taxiing is perfect with only one notch forward, then even idle will do so there’s not much need to manage the throttle on the ground.
Unfortunately, this is the best I could come up with the beta. It wasn’t fixed or modified and I’m not sure if iniBuilds is even aware of this issue. I bet they only tested the aircraft with some fancy stick/throttle gear, and never with a simple controller.
It has to be said that the issue also affects keyboard users on PC, since it’s the same kind of binary input.
Thanks for the hints. This might make it able to fly a bit.
But the aircraft should really be fixed. iniBuilds 747 and dreamliner are working as intended worth throttle, why not A320?
I’m having the same issue for zero control over the throttle and taxi speed just goes up and up. Hope a solution is found
I was wondering the same thing. I too just follow what dreampage has set. The default airbus was better in this regard
The 747 and 787 systems were upgraded by Working Title, not iniBuilds. But ini did the A310 which also works fine with a controller, so the erratic behaviour of the Neo v2 throttles is still strange.
Handling on ground also bugged.
Here is an easy fix for the Xbox controller. Makes it easy to control the throttle.
I highly recommend changing the controller map settings for the throttle. If you want an easier throttle control and you don’t want to deal with the sensitive default setup of barely pressing A for throttle increase which still seems to cause the throttle to spike all the way up. I recommend deleting the mapping for “INCREASE THROTTLE” and leaving it blank. Search “INCREASE THROTTLE (SMALL), and map whatever button you want for throttle. Also you have to enable the nose wheel tiller to work with the rudder in the PFD settings , otherwise you will not be able to steer the aircraft.
For me I noticed this is way much easier to control the throttle with . By tapping A , the throttle seems to move slowly with each press which worked way better than the default one. Just be aware mapping A will cause conflict with interactions such as having to press buttons in the FMS or anything around the throttle. Everytime I pressed A on the FMS or anywhere else, the throttle seemed to move along with it.
So I mapped my throttle to Y instead of A to prevent any conflict. You will have to delete the autopilot mapping which is set to Y, and you will just have to manually turn off the autopilot.
Thanks for that.
What is the nose wheel tiller?
Basically what you use to steer the aircraft on ground during taxi. There is a button on the tiller you also have to press to turn it on.
@suppo even with this setting it jumps over FLX
It goes to climb and then goes straight to TO/GA after that
Is iniBuilds aware of that @inibuildsJF?
I would try tapping A with the throttle instead of holding A and calibrating the positions of the throttle in the EFB. For me it moves exactly where I want it to with holding and/or tapping.
Best of luck.
I think it was supposed to be like that which is similar to the a310. I could be wrong though.
They need to update this plane with or without auto pilot the plane sucks it constantly climbs above assigned altitude, the takeoff is amazing every thing after takeoff is trash!!
Im having no issues with that, it must be a user error. Any more details? Screenshots would help too
Never had that issue. Check that all AI/Assistance piloting is OFF
