I tried to get into Innsbruck in my trusty Beach Barron but I was getting nil visibility and thunderstorms.
No way am I going to bump into a mountain today! So I diverted to another airport. I landed and then brought up the real weather at Innsbruck. Yep, the weather was exactly the same as in the sim.
I love this sim.

Very usual for this time of year in that area. Afternoon storms, watch the CBs build up and then back to the hotel to watch the storm and it’s spectacular hearing the thunder rattle around the valleys. I really like going to LOWI these days with FBW A20NX. Even more challenge for a yet challenging approach (for me).

Speaking of LOWI, the visual circling approach to rwy 8 (following the LOC/DME east instrument approach) is a wonderful way to enhance your flying skills.

I have just past over your house Karl [in the flight sim] at 10,000 ft, and yep, thunderstorms. Going on to alternate airport now. I don’t want to bump into a mountain.
I’ve been having lightning (no real thunder clouds) around the New England area of the USA for the last couple of days. Really annoying. Wish we could disable the effect. I don’t mind the clouds (if it really is thundery) but this smacks to me of the old clear sky lightning bug of yesteryear.
