Install, but not to WindowsApps

On MS Store version, even if I change the install directory, does that still install stuff to WindowsApps or is everything in the directory that I create say G:\MSFS?

Hello there,

Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to the Tech Talk subcategory as this seems to be an installation query. The General Discussion category is meant for discussions that fall outside our other sub-categories.

Please check out these other categories for your future posts:

  • Aircraft
is where you discuss current or future planes coming to MSFS as well as assistance with liveries.

Only the game launcher and digital license will be installed via MS Store app. You can change the installation drive for that (I have mine at F). MSFS game content itself is installed by that launcher later on, at the path you select during installation when you are requested to enter it (I have official content at F too and Aerosoft and ORBX content at G). The local game files (your profile settings and so on) are generated at C as the rest of windows apps (you can´t change that directory).

Cheers

Thanks, the ultimate goal is to replace the G:\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.33.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\nvngx_dlss.dll with a newer version. Ugh, I guess I still won’t be able to update it as it gets put in there.

Yes, I tried taking ownership, but it still won’t let me take ownership.

Yes, that´s part of the launcher. When you are at MS Store simply select the installation drive for the game instead of using the propose default C drive. You can install it at your G drive.

Cheers
