no matter if you change the name, is just visual, virtually it still detects the special character, the best way to fix is a fresh windows install with different user name.

Ok yes I can see that. But the best way would be for Microsoft to get its act together and fix this issue. I won’t do a clean install of Windows just for this, I have too many other programs installed… so disappointed…

Yes, really disgusting microsoft for this release. I hope they will release a patch to fix all these bugs, so that we can at least download the simulator.

Windows 2004 is not an insiders build. I don’t know why people are having so many issues?? The insider build fixed the issue we had earlier this week.
Guys create a new user profile in your computer and log into that and try and install the game. The game now works perfectly if you know how to install it.
I have done 20 installs and all of them work fine now with latest dev windows 10
ok, you’re right … I tried to make a new windows profile and now it doesn’t ask for the game disc anymore, but only to press a key. once the key is pressed, the screen turns black and the word “press a key” remains

What I did was launching “mmc” (I think a normal user creation might works), then sign in all the accounts needed (Store, Xbox BETA App and Google), turn-off firewall, install the game from scratch and launch …
NO PROBLEM AT ALL. It is installing.
Ok, in order to help the comunity with problems, I risked stopping the install process and trying again to install from scratch.
I did it in other disc (not the usual C:), Antivirus ON, Firewall ON, launching from the Store, all USBs pluging and it worked too.
Now, waiting the end of the download process.

I can report my experience, maybe it can be useful to someone.
I purchased the boxed Premium Deluxe Edition from Aerosoft (I live in Italy). At least I have been able to install all the 10 DVDs, without the need to download all the program. The problem arose with the download of the premium content and the update (about 20 GB). I passed three days and many attempts, always stuck with the dreaded “pc-fs-base-bigfiles-0.1.59.fspackage”. I also tried many of the steps suggested by Microsoft and in the various forums, with no luck. My system is quite good (i9-9900, GTX 1660 Super, 32 GB Ram, SSD for MSFS), but the weak point is the slow ADSL (1 Mb/s). Then, yesterday, after changing the mobile plan to avoid data caps, I used the smartphone as hotspot. It is much faster, about 20 Mb/s, and actually I was finally able to quickly download the content and the patch, finally arriving to correctly start the program.
So I think that the quality/speed of the connection can be an issue, surely it was my problem.

I have uninstalled my MSFS2020, which was only the Standard version although I had purchased and (though I had) downloaded the Premium Deluxe version. I just attempted to download and install the PD, and it installed the Standard edition AGAIN! Is there some files hidden that are not removed during the uninstall?
I installed through the Microsoft Store. Not X-Box.
Night lights are very nice but they are only at a small radius from the plane. Anything beyond that radius is some white textures mess.
Hey Squatter if purchased thru Steam try going into settings/downloads and change Server to another Server in Your region ,had same problem was on Dallas server and changed to St Louis and Bam download started.

Hi GPBarth. If the things work as for the boxed version of PD version, you have first to install the Standard version, and then the launcher should check for updates and additional content, and it should find all your PD content to download. In my case, with the boxed version, it worked in this way.
Finally got my copy going.
Pinched a copy of the update files from a friend.
Inserted in my update folder and working.
Not sure if will update when a patch arrives though.
Get files from a friend or dvd if stuck for now.
When I want to start the Installation Setup the black loading screen at the beggining is slow and holds for 1 Hour, when I try to do something, nothing happens an my PC crashes.
Once it loaded till the “press any key” screen then i pressed the key and a black loading screen appeared and again nothing loaded or happend.
I tried everything but nothing worked for me, could you please help
