:white_check_mark: ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  1. Description of the issue:
On the Instrument Certification flight, the briefing states that you will use a Localizer/ILS approach, but the plane’s GPS and the ATC is configured to fly an RNAV approach, and the PFD is on CDI mode with a localizer tuned (I think this part is correct at least). They also said I was cleared for the RNAV 09, which is wrong for the wind direction and not even the RNAV that was preloaded into the GPS.

Suggestion for fix: Make sure that the plane is loaded for an ILS approach and the ATC is also loaded for that same ILS approach. Most new users will not understand what an RNAV approach is since the training only speaks about ILS approaches.

  1. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
    N/A?

:white_check_mark: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
I only flew it once.

:white_check_mark: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue.

  1. Take the Instrument Certification Checkride
  2. Observe briefing information stating ILS
  3. Load into flight
  4. Observe now that the plane’s GPS is configured for an RNAV approach, but the PFD CDI is set on a localizer.
  5. Listen for ATCs instructions and realizing they are clearing you for the wrong approach (RNAV) and wrong runway, (they said 09, which was not loaded into the avionics and not correct for the wind direction).

• Yes

Interesting. As I recall I got rnav 27 loaded and was cleared for that by ATC but the tower cleared me to land on 24.

I’m running into the same issue. I’ve landed on runway 27, but twice, but both times, the “Land on Runway” step never clears. I’ve also had ATC tell me to do a RNAV landing on runway 9.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yep.

The certification in its current form appears to have never been tested before release.
