Interaction Trim: Auto Pilot/ FD and Manual Trim

Hello everyone

I have a topic regarding the interaction of the manual trim and the car pilot or FD. It looks to me as if these two functions work against each other as soon as an input of the two changes.

For the manual trim I use an analog input (slider of a model RC remote control), there is always some noise. You can then see that the trim wheel does not rotate in AP mode, but only shrugs a little. The effect is even greater if the distance between the target and the actual value of the Flight Director becomes so large that this ends in a “stall” situation.

I’m doing something with the sensitivity setting regarding zero point to eliminate the noise. But since this seems to me to be systematic, perhaps there are better solutions? How do you deal with it, insofar as you use an analog trim input?

I think it is difficult to solve in principle as long as two inputs act on the trim, with one acting incrementally (FD) and the other acting absolutely (axis between -100 and +100%).

Thanks,
regards Dietmar
