After finally getting all of the content downloaded I was very much looking forward to playing finally last night!
However I’m now experiencing random crashing/freezing mid flight. It can happen at any point, sometimes in the training missions, free flight or even at the menu.
The game just freezes and I have to kill the process.
I also had two crashes in less than 20min gaming while I was doing flight training yesterday. It freeze my screen for ~5sc then close itself the program.
I also experience sometimes some freezes during my flights then it disappeared and I can keep going flying.
I have a msi trident x plus running with i9, rtx 2080ti, 32gb ram and 2T. I put my global graphic settings on High end with some items on intermediate.
I have just had a freeze, then crash 1 hour into a 2 hour flight, really really annoyed. Are we the test dummies? So many bugs! The sim looks awsome I just wish microsoft had not raised expectations so high
I get these same crashes just trying to download it. Happens every 2-15 minutes during the download. Restart, and download again…and crash. It finally completes, and then just starts downloading again (and crashing).
So I check a few things on my system and I saw my feature updates was pending the Windows 10, version 2004 (I was on the 1903 version). I update it and as far from now (2h flying) no freezes or program crash.
Go check this feature if you had the same problem as I had.
Also my zoom and click board struggle sometimes, for a few minutes it disable those which is very annoying. Have you also notice that bug ?
Exception code is always 0xc0000005, but that’s not very important. The offset identifies the exact place in the code where the problem occurs, and that’s the most important part.
Anyway, clearly one cause is issues with USB devices. At the very least you should refrain from connecting/disconnecting any while flying. Apparently Bluetooth can cause that as well, so if possible it should be disabled before starting the simulator. Other than that, disconnect USB devices you don’t need before starting the simulator, and connect devices you need directly, instead of using USB hubs. And changing the USB ports that you use could help too. And if possible avoid using any wireless devices, like keyboards and mice.
But that’s only one type of crash. Only in this thread 4 different types of crashes were mentioned, that could have different causes. The 4th one was:
For me, crashes really began happening regularly when I began using SimToolkit to track my flights.Even after the update (which made the stutter go away) I’ve still had two crashes to desktop mid flight. Prior to using it, I can’t remember a single crash to desktop other than the known Iceland bug.
