The Xbox is massively more simple to configure and operate.
That said, Flight Simulator is still a complex piece of software that has, unfortunately, seen issues arise with every update. Sim Update 12, which released recently, introduced that bug that I linked to you. That bug didn’t exist a couple of weeks ago prior to SU12’s release.
Anyhow, the sim has a number of important “online” components. If the connection to these online components are severed, a dialog box will appear that prompts the user to proceed regardless or switch to Offline mode. Other times, Offline mode is turned on, somehow, without the user’s input. I was trying to get you to check that setting.
In short, getting a PC is not going make using the sim easier. It will be the complete opposite. Regardless of your platform of choice, the sim is a complex piece of software with quirks and issues that we all have to work around. It’s important to understand that.
In general, a complete reinstallation of the sim and its add-ons is a last-resort type of solution that is pretty much never warranted.
