It is an excellent news for PC users if and only if the Xbox Series X is more capable than a PC, otherwise, it is bad news because you’ll get no more than what Xbox Series X can deliver, even if you have a ThreadRipper and a 3090.
And what about in 4 years from now? Today’s Xbox will be the same in 4 years, and all FS2020 updates because they must “fit” in the Xbox capablities won’t take advantage of new PC hardware capabilities. FS2020 won’t have more features consuming more resources suitable for the PCs available in 4 years because it will still have to run at 60fps on today’s same Xbox hardware.
In my opinion no, it is not good news at all in the long run, or even in the short term because it means there are technologies already available on PC only, and probably very good for the performance, which will never be exploited because of Xbox (see below)
In my opinion given the answer to this question in the Q&A, I wouldn’t bet much on this unfortunately.
If there is no DLSS in XBox/AMD/DX12U then no, their will not be DLSS support in FS2020 even if 85% of simmers are running on NVidia hardware (maybe not all on RTX though but nevertheless, quite a sizeable chunk of NVidia hardware with specific optimizations possible just for them).
