Intriguing Discovery… 76T & Bad FPS Areas Geometrically Linked to Class B Boundaries

,

This is one of the reasons why i like to hang out in these forums, others have said it, but brilliant work Sir!

I had this same issue at KATL. Flying any aircraft, latest were the DA20, C208 and CRJ550.

I experience much worse stutters in planes with G1000/3000, less problems with CJ4 and steam gauge GAs pa28.

Wonder whether these airspace issues are exacerbated by airspace data also being depicted on the GPS unit screens? They presumably use the same data as the scenery, so that may explain why planes using these GPS units seem so much worse affected by stutters whereas simpler depictions of flight plans and waypoints aren’t maybe so badly affected…

Just a thought.

This particular issue, where the manipulators are taking 900 - 1200ms to complete is a specific issue that doesn’t matter if you’re even in a plane at all. You can take the drone through the area.

Microstuttering in general appears to be a different issue.

You may be onto something here. I loaded up an airport outside of any controlled airspace (79VG), and my framerates were restored to previous glory. No stuttering whatsoever, even at ultra graphics settings in what is a beautiful mountainous area with lots of natural and manmade scenery detail. I need to test out what happens when I make an airspace transition from this area.

I’ve found the opposite. The plane I get the most stuttering with is the stock 152. I get the least from the 172 with G1000 or the TBM930.

Great find OP, very well played.

Inspired, I had a go at mapping a couple of FPS black holes in the UK - one at EGNX which turned out to be too small to interpret properly really but was definitely the same kind of shape (right angle triangle with curved hypotenuse).

Then I found one further north which was larger…

There was an airport near the centre of the 30nm circle that fitted the arc nicely - but it was only a grass strip near Bridlington - hardly an international hub

Not sure it adds much but thought I’d share

Great work, really interesting to read as well!

KDEN has a similar one to its SW.

They seem to have fixed this OP’s Issue. With today’s patch. 1.14.6.0

Indeed they have! Just tested all three problem areas outlined in my original post here - the 76T area, the Melbourne, FLA KMLB area, and the one NW of the Amelia Earrhart K59 airfield, KS - and all of them have steady FPS in the 70’s for me.

What’s more, several other locations I was troubleshooting - that WERE NOT clearly associated with Class B Airspace so far as I could tell - also appear to have been fixed. That’s great to see.

This seems thus far to be a very good hot fix, with increased performance across the board, and snappier menus and loading to boot. Something was clearly terribly wrong with the sim in 1.14.5.0, and it appears to have been remediated quite nicely.

Hat’s off to Asobo… the Devs…& Forum Moderators. We have our sim back. Looking forward to flying this evening for sure.

Thanks to YOU bud!

Same post I put on another thread. Only update is I flew for about 45 minutes to FL410 and FPS still in the high 40s - low 50s…

With as much as problems have been reported prior to the patch, I will say that the latest patch appears to have solved the manipulators issue I was seeing.

Same exact spawn in location at KMEM, same plane, same mods, now getting 50+ FPS vs teens last night. I even increased resolution scaling to 110% (running 3440x1440 with a 3090 FE) and still in the high 40s-50. Constantly GPU limited.

Semi-concerned this is the first time I’m hearing my GPU fan fire up. Seeing up to 75C GPU temp and max 104 GPU mem temp, need to see if there are concerns there. Of course, just in time for the 70+ weather to start rolling in.

That is probably a good indication that your GPU is now being utilized to its full extent, where prior to the patch, for most users, the performance bugs had the CPU bogged down so badly that the GPU was basically loafing.

Personally, I just don’t trust automatic GPU fan control. Whenever I run MSFS, I manually set the GPU fan to run at 85 percent of its max speed and leave it there until I exit the game. It is a bit noisy of course, and I suppose I might eventually wear out the fan prematurely, but at least I am assured that cooling airflow will be maximized at all times.

Problem solved on East part of LFLB ! :+1:

Hello everyone,

The latest patch was addressing the issue raised by GuiltyKey06482 last week.
I’m closing this thread. Thanks again for all the effort made to solve this issue!
