Intrusive "Controls" page (Calling All Angels)

Please add the msfs-2020 or msfs-2024 tag to your post, depending on which sim your post is about.

I realize others have had this same issue. I am new to this program. When I go to Activities>Flight training>Basic Handling>Sim Controls>Ready to Fly…..I can see my c172 for a short time until Captain Jess starts her monologue, then my screen is inundated by random shots of the “Controls” page that takes up two thirds of the screen. This happens every time. It lasts a few seconds and then it is gone until a few more seconds it is back. I can not proceed to check any flight surfaces, etc. It seems to be somewhat, sometimes responsive to moving my mouse. So I tried a new one with no resolution. I searched Chrome and the AI gave me lots of things to try. I did all of them with no help.

I finally uninstalled the program and reinstalled as directed via x-box (pc version). Aside from the issue above I am reasonably ok. Here is my rig details:

Win 10 64bit 32 gb
Version 2024 1.5.27.0
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3060Ti 8 gb
Latest Chrome Browser
No third party software, mods (nothing)…only msfs 2024
Logitech Yoke/Throttle, Thrustmaster Rudder- All OK
No bugs reported using Cessna 172P

I would really, really appreciate some help from you smart people (Angels).

Kindest regards to you all,

Dr. Frank (Foxtrot#7975)

(P.S. “Calling All Angels” is sung by Train) Just FYI

Are you using a single display? :television:

Early in FS’24 history I experienced a similar behaviour with my multiple displays. :television::television::television:
However, other than that, I tried the Activities>Flight training>Basic Handling>Sim Controls exercise without a problem.

I hope you get a solution.

Do you reproduce the issue without any controller connected (except for mouse and keyboard)?

I don’t know if I am doing this correctly.

YES, only use one 2K monitor.

Thanks, appreciate you!

Hi Twodogzz,

I have replied to this post x2 but somehow it is not getting to you.

This is my last attempt. You spent your time so I will try to reciprocate.

I only use one 27” Asus 2K monitor.

I really appreciate your attempt at helping me. I have had only one other suggestion that did not seem to help so I am considering doing a refresh install and putting it on another SSD drive as I have fiber that runs at one terabyte.

Twodogzz,

This is my third attempt to send reply. For some reason the other two did not make it to you.

I am using only ONE 27” Asus 2K monitor.

In addition I have seen comments that if you try to conduct a “refresh download” from MS store you will be sent to xbox. This is true as it happened to me.

As I have no answer to my issue I am planning on doing another refresh download and putting it on my second SSD. It is one terabyte in size.

I you or any one else has an idea please let me know.

Kindly,

DrFrank

P.S. P.S. Dogzz rule!!

Yes, I have removed all Logitech Pro Flight products and Thrustmaster rudder pedals. It does not help. I even removed their drivers and let MS deal with it…same issue.

I am so discouraged. I am contemplating trying a refresh download. I remove every trace of old program using Revo Unistaller. The thing I don’t get is why the MS store sends me to x box to do the fresh download. I guess others have the same question.

Have a great day,

DrFrank

I have actually fixed this issue myself!!. A noob….

Here is the FIX…Open Activities, the intrusive “Controls” start coming and going obscuring all. Go to the toolbar and click on “Controls”. Under RESET POSITION uncheck Basic Controls and the intrusion is gone!

However, one issue remains a problem. The dialogue box that drops down with

  • Basic Controls
  • Camera
  • Mission Steps
  • TOGGLE ACTIVE PAUSE… all remain in the window. I do not know how to get it out yet. I think there is a way to even remove the toolbar completely. I’ll try later…I’m beat.

Anyway, as long as the “Basic Controls” option is unchecked it works and I can finish this step.

My last inquiry is….do I report this to MS?

Thanks for the suggestions from all,

DrFrank (Foxtrot#7975)

Thank you LaPaleine…really appreciate your suggestion. I am suspicious that it has something to do with the mouse as when I click it the overlying screen disappears. That is why I tried another mouse. I wonder if you think that I should do a fresh install. (You may ignore this of course…I fully understand.)

Thank you again,

DrFrank

That’s an excellent result.
Sorry, I didn’t respond earlier. Been a bit busy with, you know, family stuff!

I didn’t know about the “reset position” thingy!

Cheers
