Ipad with AirTrack

I’m looking for something like a G1000 on an additional iPad, does anyone have experience with that in combination with FS2020? I’m looking at AirTrack for example but maybe there are better solutions. Any suggestions?

this one looks very good, but I’ve no tried it yet…

It still has some issues with the AP functionality but they are working on it according to their website… We’ll have to see and wait…

From the Simionic website:

The first patch of FS2020 has been pushed to users today by FS2020 team. This update fixed the frame drop problem when 3rd party programs communicate with FS2020 via SimConnect library. With this fix our bridge program runs normally with FS2020 and we can finally get some reliable results from our tests with FS2020. While we can do less about the missing variables in FS2020 we will definitely go for the autopilot stability problem. Currently the autopilot algorithm in the PFD program doesn’t control the planes in FS2020 well, leading the planes to keep banking violently to both side while trying to maintain a certain bank/heading. We are working on this problem and will get it work ASAP.

yes, let’s wait…

I have downloaded the Simionic G1000 and with the plugin from their website it works. I still have to play with it a bit more but it is a great app. The autopilot isn’t working great yet but the developers are working on it. The only thing I miss is that it doesn’t have any sounds when you click a button, that would have been great, the buttons are small and you have to look twice to find out wether you clicked a button or not.

I just got this yesterday and really liking it so far. I want to grab the companion MFD app too that shows your map. Has anyone used it? I’m wondering it it shows your waypoints and routes on the map. If it doesn’t I probably won’t mess with it.

I use the Simionic MFD and PFD apps all the time and I have had almost zero issues. I have none of the issues that others complain about the AP or missing features in the MS G1000 as these apps bypass those completely. The only downside is you can’t load .PLN files as you have to enter them in by hand on the iPad. These are basically 95% of a real G1000 so you can really do some complicated things that you can’t do in MS at the moment.

Yes, it shows the waypoints and magenta line on the PFD. It’s definitely worth the $10 if you already have the MFD and have a second iPad. I liked them so much I bought the bezels. It also has an updated database of approaches etc. I haven’t run across a procedure that it didn’t have installed. The NavData is Cycle 2010.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I do have two iPads so will probably snag the MFD app this evening.

Occasionally it will lose connection with the other app but re-running the app gets you right back to where you were with no issues. This doesn’t happen very often.

Well, I got the MFD app and eventually got them connected. It tracks my plane but doesn’t show my waypoints or the magenta route line which is what I hoped for. Do I have to turn that info on somehow? Doesn’t seem to be many options and I didn’t see anything that would turn the magenta line on.

The magenta line is your flight plan that the gps is following. You set that up using the FPL button and entering your flight plan. I don’t use the Asobo G1000 at all. Use the apps for autopilot and everything will be smooth. Those apps work identically to a real G1000 so you can use actual online stuff for that and youtube videos. Check out FlyingLikeThePros on youtube. They have a great G1000 series.

Think of the apps as a complete replacement for the in game screens. Enter and activate your flight plans, procedures etc from the apps and do all your AP settings like NAV, HDG, ALT from the apps as well. The only downside so far is you can’t load .PLN files so you need to enter waypoints by hand into the app.

Does ingame (virtual cockpit) G1000 displays synchronize with the apps?

Ah, well that’s kind of a pain so not sure I’ll mess with that. Was hoping it would just pull that info from the game and automatically load it up but from what I’ve seen none of the map apps do that. Oh well.

My problem is that my Honeycomb yoke doesn’t work anymore in combination with the Simionic G1000, any idea what might have caused this?

Did anyone try the Airtrack on an iPad yet in combination with FS2020?
