I am NOT a flight sim fan, but given how awesome Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 looked in YouTube videos, I bought it…now I am hooked on it!!! This has totally blown me away! The level of photographic realism and accuracy in it is jaw-dropping! I totally love it!!
I live in Ireland but I have family and friends in Rhode Island in America. Because Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 uses Bing Maps to map the world, roads, rivers, mountains, fields, etc., are all 100% totally spot-on for accuracy on where they should be and they they go. But buildings are another story. Because the sim is using satellite data, it’s basically looking down on the roofs of buildings and has to populate the world with what it thinks the buildings should look like. It does an amazing job at this, but not a 100% accurate one.
Rhode Island is totally realistic!! I have flown around Providence and it’s outer suburbs and I can tell you, EVERY BUILDING is practically a carbon copy of the real thing! It is incredible!!
But sadly Ireland needs some love and attention. Yes, roads, rivers, fields, etc., are all correct, but there is no accurate buildings to be seen and I would love for this to be addressed. I would love to see Ireland get the same level of realism as Rhode Island has.
I know every player of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will want an add-on for their locations, so if there is already a topic or a forum for this, sorry for starting this new topic. But I just wanted to add my voice to requests for places to receive an add-on pack and I would love for Ireland to get one please!
Other than that, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is a truly jaw-dropping piece of software and it’s won over this non-flight-simmer big time!!
As far as i understood the roadmap, there will be updates to all regions in the world (first ist far east & asia i guess) so i also hope that your wish will be fixed with one of this updates. To say the truth Vienna (Austria) is quite well, but some of the landmarks are completly ignored and also some street does not match the reality. But we are in the beginning of a new area, and to other simulations (without addons) it’s almost perfect
Thanks for the replies and the feedback. Good to hear updates are going to be rolled out. And yes, this really is a whole new beginning in the flight sim genre, I’m loving it!! Thanks.
@Severeeno Hello, sorry that i can not rember on which page i had read this. Must be something like PCGames, PCGames Hardware, Gamestar in the german version. The closest news i was able to found was here: https://www.pcgameshardware.de/Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-Spiel-15259/News/Regelmaessige-World-Updates-SDK-Zusatzinhalte-1355168/ were it is said, that there will be a worldupdate every 2-3 Month and in another news there they said that they will always put attendence to one region with this update, and that the first should be far east & asia, but this i was not able to find anymore. Sorry i have read everything i could find so far, and because of this my history in the browser is to long to find this particular news.
I think we will be waiting a while for an official Ireland addon. I’d pay for a decent 3rd party addon that added the main cities and airports around Ireland.
I do see there’s ways to export Google Earth 3D models and import into FS20202. So that may be something I’ll do for myself at some stage.
MK Studios has Dublin Airport in the pipeline as their first MSFS release. It was a great add-on in P3D and I’m really looking forward to it. Combine that with the freeware Dublin scenery above, and it’s not a bad start for a month or so after release
