IRIS Simulations Pilatus PC-21 Release Build

I’ve just bought this for 2020 and very dissapointed. Cockpit textures are a bit below par - which I can just about live with - but the HUD turns to a pixelated soup on an movement.

Doesn’t seem to be any way of getting a refund either.

I think that’s meant to be to enhance contrast of the text against the background.

Which version? I have the Iris Simulations version and it’s spectacular! Works well in MSFS2024 too.

Did you find the foot brakes ineffective?

I can see my pedals are animating when I brake (so controller setup is correct) but I do NOT slow down AT ALL. They are not working as far as I can tell.

Hi, my foot brakes work ok. I hope you find a fix soon.

Iris Simulations in FS2020. Seems the hud doesn’t mix well with TAA, so will have to sacrifice image quality to see it properly.

When this addon released for 2020 a few years ago, it had the “blurry” HUD issue in TAA back then too. However, the manual explicitly stated/recommended to use DLAA Anti-Aliasing to address the issue. Since I switched from TAA to using DLSS with DLAA back then, I have never looked back. The scenery is a lot smoother with DLAA - I can live with slightly blurry rolling text for altitude adjustments in glass cockpits though. It was this addon that “educated” me of the benefits of using DLAA over TAA on my system.

I have now flown the updated PC-21, and THIS addon cannot come to MSFS 2024 soon enough for me. If I had flown this addon update when it released, I probably wouldn’t have bought the Gabriel BK-160 or the Shark 600. In MSFS 2020, this addon is stable and controllable at 85 kts - slow enough for sight-seeing at low altitude. I’d fly a helicopter if I wanted to go any slower or land remotely. And then, this addon will accelerate to 300+ kts on the top end. Such an enormous and flexible envelope at one’s disposal.

The now included Roulettes liveries are a HUGE bonus for me, as this addon with the Roulettes livery has always been my preferred addon to fly in Australia - there is now a higher possibility that people in multiplayer will actually see a PC-21 in an appropriate Australian livery when I fly with them in multiplayer now - Although my expectations are low, since MSFS 2020 and especially 2024 have horrible difficulty in even showing liveries that come with an addon in multiplayer.

Another bonus for me is the ability to use the FMS to fly a route commercially OR input and edit routes on the fly using the GTN750 toolbar popout.

I bought this addon from the Marketplace, so I look forward to being able to use the updated version in 2024 someday.

The FS2020 version works extremely well in FS2024. In fact, it’s my goto aircraft for sightseeing in the Swiss Alps. As you say, slow or fast it’s a great vehicle for sightseeing, navigation exercises or formation flying. DLSS is way to go especially for VR.

No, I have noticed it too.

I have found that the AoA indexer is out, in that to get the AoA O to illuminate you have to fly way to slow, and since the recent update it’s even worse, requiring 85Kts which is border line stalling. Anyone else notice this? Also the spelling errors on the recommended airspeeds decal on the RH side of the canopy have been like it since release which is annoying. I do like the aircraft in general.

Incredible that version 1.5 is STILL not on the marketplace for the 2024 version more than a month after it was released by Iris… obviously not the developer’s fault. Asobo, again, showing one of the myriad of reasons as to why people get frustrated with them.

I want to like and fly the PC-21 and it is enjoyable to fly but for me the cockpit needs and graphics upgrade before I will fly it again. I look for high detail and depth right down to rivets nuts bolts and screws. There are a couple of other military trainers that are better and one that is just lights out in cockpit detail.

I agree and wish the cockpit textures were more lifelike. However, this addon (for my flying style) has one of the most versatile “touring” envelopes to use in game. When I fly it, my eyes are mostly looking outside the cockpit. I can live with it’s current state. Many other addons I fly still look like FSX ports too.

But, a cockpit texture upgrade would definitely elevate the addon’s user experience to fantastic heights.

And as Underdog posted, the Marketplace wait is frustrating. Using this addon without the subtle avionics interface updates and the Roulettes liveies is disappointing.

Here are the versions in from the Marketplaces for me. The Iris website shows only one version for use in both FS20 and FS24. I hope the streamline changes to Marketplace processing mentioned in the last dev stream arrive soon.

2020 Marketplace has Version: 1.5.1 Dated: 18 May 25
2024 Marketplace has Version 1.3.0 Dated: 4 Apr 25

While I agree that a cockpit upgrade is needed for the graphics, to me far more important would be a proper flight model. This product still features a jet flight model and therefore handles nothing like a real PC-21.
Oh and loosing the 747 default FMS would also be nice.

Other developers have invested far more effort in a realistic recreation of their aircraft, it’s a shame that Iris simply doesn’t care about accuracy and realism. But seeing how this product continues to be praised it looks like most people don’t care either.
