Is altitude capture broken on DA40NG?

I just tried simulating an IFR departure and (RNAV) approach out of and back into my home airport using the DA-40NG.

G1000 functionality is still very rudimentary and unrealistic, which makes flying an approach difficult. When I load the procedure into the G1000 there still doesn’t seem to be a way to activate a direct-to track to the initial entry waypoint on the RNAV, and still no OBS waypoint suspension function to allow me to manually conduct a sector entry and hold before commencing the approach.

But I digress, because what really struck me was that the autopilot seems to be ignoring my bugged altitude during climbs/descents in both VS and FLC modes. That is, there is no altitude capture and I will shoot right through the assigned altitude. Is anyone else experiencing this? It’s been a while since I’ve flown a real aircraft equipped with a G1000 and integrated autopilot, but my understanding is that I shouldn’t need to press the ALT softkey to capture an altitude on climb or descent, and that it should capture the selected altitude? Am I missing something? I don’t think this was a problem for me pre-patch.

It works for me (alt is captured on climb/descend) on the C172SP G1000.

Okay. I can confirm I just tried and tested the 172 and it worked. But even after reloading the capture function is not working correctly on the Da-40NG

Doesn’t work on the Baron, either. This is new since the 1.8.3 patch. Used to be, the Baron had the best climbing autopilot, even without an altitude knob. Now it’s got the knob but can’t climb without lots of intervention and although the thing TRIES to capture, it can’t trim itself for level flight and just keeps on climbing slowly.
