It can survive the night now at terrain detail 100 since the patch.
Before SU3 I could fly at terrain detail 200, since SU3 (and no change with the patch) terrain detail 200 (or 150 tested last night) results in bad stuttering while memory usage keeps creeping up without ever stopping. (By the time it’s double of what it usually uses I’m down to 2fps)
There was a change in how the CPU handles terrain generation which made the overall process slower and more prone to falling behind, which triggers runaway memory allocation. Before SU3 my 2.2 ghz cpu could keep up at 200 terrain, now it can’t anymore. And it still mostly uses just one core.
