It’s from 3rd party developers! They spent their time and skill to work on new planes, improved airport scenery and other stuff - so most of them want to see some money.
I am a little disappointed but as a programmer for over 30 years I realise that nobody can get it 100% right first time around. In other games bugs are much less critical unless of cousre you cannot use the product. There certainly are bugs as I have come across several. There are also usability issues with things like creating your journey. It also should support 3rd party panels, Saitek etc. The serious flight simmers tend to have invested a lot in hardware.
Standing back a bit and comparing the product to X-Plane, the only point scored for FS2020 is the world graphics. X-Plane with all its 3rd party aircraft including study level ones are way ahead in every aspect. If they ever manage to do a deal with a company to provide a similiar world experience then hands down FS2020 will be dead in the water.
FS2020 have lots to do. I hope they do it. I like the product, its external view is really good and of course the graphics are eye-candy. I am really looking forward to 1 or 2 3rd party stuudy level aircraft to be released. That will really lift the game for serious simmers. FS2020 is a fantastic platform for the future. As long as Microsoft dont starting demanding unreasonable commisions from developers for selling their products on the marketplace then I reckon in 6-12 months there will be a lot of addons.
All that being said, FS2020 is a fantastic achievement. Everyone should giive it time to prove itself.
Scroll mouse wheel for 10, click left mouse button for 1. Same goes for altitude. Scroll for 1000, click for 100.
Pleasssse in the new future update please provide us this Airplane performance can be defined as the capability of an airplane to operate effectively while serving a specific purpose. Among the elements of performance are takeoff and landing distances, rate of climb, ceiling, speed, payload, and fuel economy u can added in the hangar spec option or on the check list add a tab with that .Because iam sure if u are going to fly a plane in real life u will want to know this info in real scenario i shouldn’t be looking for this on google after paying $100.Also airport charts would be nice .Iam in the situation now that to fly a pane in the sim i have to look for the specifications in google not fair.
exactly, can’t wait till pmdg releases something, cause these planes that came with it are trash
For 500 USD I would expect the package planes to have full functionality.
The SAV Cub (my personal favourite) has no operational BAT switch, the “12V” switch says “INOP”. If you assign and use “BAT ON” on any switch of your HOTAS the ignition key goes berserk and the ATC screen starts to flicker. After 20-30 mins of flight your radio and transponder are frequently switched off with no way to get them back to life. Even the tiny transponder of the Cub has 3 “INOP” keys.
Twys and ramps on the smaller airfields are not adjusted for terrain and sometimes have frightening gradients.
Fiddling with the in-flight map distorts the engine sound and may cause it to turn mute.
Descending through 3000-4000ft AGL even in “elswhere areas”, to say nothing of the LA basin, may cause a significant drop in fps to almost slide show with a high chance of freezing the game and requiring a shutdown via the task manager. How can I log hours if every 2nd or 3rd flight ends in Ctr-Alt-Del?
I am using a i7 7700 with 64 GB Ram, an NVIDIA 1080 with 16GB and use the recommended NVIDIA settings which are pretty conservative.
In over 5 hrs of flying I have so far encountered 1 (one) AI plane taxiing for departure. AI vehicles on the manoeuvring area are driven by maniacs and apparently have built in right-of-way.
For me as a retired Air Traffic Controller and Instrument Approach Designer the Sim ATC brings tears to my eyes - not meant in a positive way.
The scenery and weather look spectacular, but that is only one part of a “Flight Simulator”, especially one for which some would be willing to pay 500 USD.
I get 30-45 fps easily in med/high settings in remote areas. But when I goto cities like say New York JFK, it goes to 2fps for a solid 10-12 minutes after which it starts stabilizing at around 14-20 fps. My setup is 1060 3GB, 16GB Ram, i5-9400f and 7200 RPM HDD. The issues most people are complaining about are actually in cities. Because, the performance is horrible in cities.
Short answer… really disappointed? No!
Longer answer, this title will only get better & better with each version/patch/release… if that doesn’t occur, then and only then would I be a little disappointed. Until then, I’m having a fun time in the air.
As post need have min 10 characters, I say NO!
While I do think most of the issues mentioned in this thread will be resolved eventually, we will never, ever, see a visual damage model, like parts flying off etc. Icing, smoke, fire, yes. But it’s a flight sim. Not a crash sim, or a combat sim where destruction and carnage is essential to the gameplay. In, MSFS, once your aircraft strikes an object, you are done. Try again.
Realize you are asking for another layer of complex physics simulations to work on top of everything else. It’s already hard enough to simulate forces acting upon an aircraft in proper working condition. Tearing a chunk off the wing changes everything. And the game just isnt programmed to take that kind of thing in to account. Never gonna happen unfortunately.
Furthermore, in my experience, the vast majority of real world pilots who fly sims aren’t interested in the spectacle of airplane crashes.
Your FPS will increase and your FPS fluctuation will decrease with an SSD. That’s the nature of fight simulators
I’m mostly happy with it, but there is some disappointment as well.
It runs great on my system, looks great, VFR flying in all the prop planes is a lot of fun. I never flew jets much in all the previous versions and haven’t tried one yet in this version.
I am disappointed that IFR flying is so broken, I have yet to see the ILS gauge work properly on an approach. I’ve been trying to think of the last MSFS release that didn’t have working IFR and it must be too far back to remember. I remember all that stuff working well going back to the late 90s.
And add the autopilot as the other disappointment, as most here have reported it doesn’t work well in most aircraft, and the only crash to desktops I’ve had have been while trying to use the autopilot.
The “real” weather is only real up to a point, only seems to work for steady rain in an area. Fly to an area with thunderstorms and the clouds look like storms but under them there is no rain. The real weather was one thing I thought might be really cool but it’s just meh.
Hopefully these things will get fixed and improved over the next several months. If they take longer than that my disappointment will probably grow.
Stop whining, just star learning to use the simulator. It is a great simulator and will become better with time.
I hope that’s not what they did. Because dumbing down the weather would be the biggest possible mistake.
We were told the base sim would mean no more scenery addons required as the base sim would be amazing yet I will have to buy scenery packages for all the areas I like to fly just like P3D and X plane , so its no different and as there is no helicopter I can’t really use this sim to even close to it’s potential for me yet.
What do you mean by star learning, does that mean using the stars to hope for a better simulator?
It’s now fully new code, go have a look at the files. Plenty of old FSX stuff. There’s even picture / screen from FSX in the files.
Those are still there for copyright reason, same as FSX had FS98 files still in, most are not used and not available, are not compatible with the new MSFS, night light, water, clouds, sky, terrain, trees, aircraft etc… FSX never used PBR and such to start off. 95% MSFS use PBR. Most older addons are not compatible and files\structure are totally different. There is compressed pack which are not accessible as well.
@ IndigoCypress76
I think everyone can notice that you only made a typing error. Does not justify a cheap shot from someone who wants to belong to the MSFS community IMO. Just ignore
So telling someone they are whining is not an even cheaper shot, at least I used irony in my comment . Thankyou point proven, well done
Furthermore this game needs to get fixed before getting better , it’s a bit broken in a few places at the moment .
