Hyperbaric chambers are, traditionally, used to treat divers who have surfaced too quickly and are suffering from ‘the bends’. They are also used for medical purposes, e.g. my wife spent 3 days in a hyperbaric chamber after suffering severe carbon monoxide poisoning.
