Is it possible to have MSFS for VR one day?

For those who enjoy virtual reality, will we have MSFS VR?

Would not hold your breath that it will be any good considering the S**t state this sim is in already lol.

not sure if you have been browsing the forums but they have other issues besides VR

there are many people who simulate via virtual reality including me who own a VR glasses I have many friends who also have and want to switch to MSFS looking forward to this patch

on interview, they stated, It’s almost finished, release is targeted for October.

Yes, I have been following it a lot !, VR support would help a lot of those who are training because it is much more realistic in terms of cockpit study than any aircraft

Microsoft has partnered with HP in its upcoming release of the HP Reverb G2. As stated in the MS news release the G2 will be the first supported VR system and the G2 is due to be released mid to late October so expect G2 support in the sim as of that time.

When other VR systems will be supported in the sim is unknown at this time, but people should expect MS to give some exclusive time to the G2 before any pre-existing VR devices are supported.

Thank your for your constructive insight.

That isn’t entirely accurate. What they said was that the MSFS VR implementation would coincide with the launch of the G2.

Subsequently, to clear up the apparent misunderstanding of the IT press, they said that the initial release would cover all WMR headsets, of which the G2 is one but not the only one, and that the other, non-WMR, headsets would be accommodated sometime afterwards.

First the devs have to make the sim really playable in high settings at 75fps or more to be comfortabel for VR…

You certainly can. but I remember when VR was talked about months ago that it was likely graphics options would be set to Medium, possibly enforced for all I know, to make the required framerates achievable in VR.

But i’m sure they will succeed in doing so trough a future update.

Thank you for the correction/clarification, which I accidentally omitted. I have a G2 pre-ordered so I’m tunnelled visioned on G2 atm and forgot that other WMR devices are available and will be supported.

There are things that can be done with drivers, software updates, rendering techniques (smaller boxed frame) and hardware reprojection that can up the framerate to > 60, which is what you need. You don’t need 80+ FPS as MINIMUM to get a decent VR experience. I rarely get that high FPS in DCS or Aerofly FS2, two flightsims that support VR - but it is sufficient, and hardware will continue to evolve and in a few years we’ll have a smooth experience.

I’m holding out for a wider FOV than 110’, which is REALLY PATHETIC. I can’t even believe that no-one else than Pimax has gone down this route.

Everyone talks about VR, but what about augmented reality, like the HoloLens?

Imaging a head up display, that could paint other aircraft in your vicinity on to that display? Or visualise your current flight plan. I’ve never used them personally, but I’ve seen videos of users with assist turned on, that plot the route for the pattern, and these could be displayed on HoloLens instead of in the “real world” view from the cockpit.

If nothing else, it sounds like fun.

I’ve heard people talking about using real cockpit setups, like with physical instruments and displays, knobs, buttons and stick+throttle, and then using AR to fill in the “outside world” through windows. That could save lots of processing power and give a more realistic hands on experience, not a cheap one though…

Last time I looked at HoloLens, it was something like $3000. Not cheap for something of a gimmick, for now at least.

S**t state??? Have you tried X plane???

Well, 3k is an investment, not something you go out and buy just for fun like a €500-800 HMD. I can afford it, but I’m also not an idiot. Better to wait for technology to mature.

I love X Plane in VR and never have any update or other types of problems that MSFS has. I feel that when MSFS does come out in VR (have Rift S and Pimix 8K+) it will be very buggy. Might get MSFS in a month or two for flat screen but it is to buggy for me know.
