Is it too late to get a refund?

A week later and the game no longer launches for me. Tried everything. Reinstalling, googling various fixes, nothing works and just want my money back. Anyone know how to go about this?

Sorry to hear this. Check this post

Excellent thanks!

Highly unlikely your get a refund after using it for a week, Do you know for a fact there is no issue your end.

I really dont know. Im just sick of dealing with it. But obviously theres been a lot of technical issues with the game so youd think they would understand.

I think steam will only give refunds if you use for under 3 hours or less done this with another game in the past.
Are you likely to buy it again in future as things will improve might just be worth waiting for the next patch.
When you re-installed did you make sure to remove all files before hand installing again, Don’t suppose you tried to re-install the small store app file?
Sorry if you have tried those things.

The last time I checked it was 2 hours, and 2 weeks.

Just saw they consider it if its within 14 days which I am so I just put the request in. Even before this launch issue the game was crashing a lot before I could even get into the game itself. Was also having framerate problems on a machine with 32gb ram and a 2070 card which is just ridiculous. I hope they refund it.

Well no harm asking is there, they can only say yes or no can understand id be frustrated to in your situation.

Which CPU though?

Not sure about microsoft but Steam will refund a game on a case by case basis if you contact support. Especially if you do not have a habbit of doing it. When I first got Xplane I didn’t like it. And it took some time playing it to realize it wasn’t for me at that time. I contacted support and explained it to them and they gave me a refund. I ended up buying it again a year later though for more money so I guess it worked out for them lol.

I have heard microsoft will give a refund if the game is actually broke and you can’t install or play it. Like Dorrager said, no harm in asking. At the very least maybe they will try to help you get it running?

Backup everything to external hard drive and Factory reset windows 10

Just initiate a chargeback/transaction dispute on your form of payment, especially if you paid Microsoft directly. Chargebacks actually cost the subject company money and negatively influence their credit to the maximum extent that you as a consumer can.

Keep in mind that most companies, including Valve for you Steam buyers, don’t take kindly to this action. You can expect some form of retaliation.

EDIT

Also, if you feel mislead, or the product is not what you paid for, if you’re in the United States, you can file fraud complaints with your States’ Attorney General’s office, and/or the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov.

I would love to know the stats relating to percentage of sales that then went onto request a refund. Pretty impressive to see over a million sales tho. Shame there are so many people still having issues. I hope they get rectified soon.

If you are in the U.S., couldn’t you even attempt to file a lawsuit squeezing 1 million bucks out of MS for the emotional pain you experienced when the disappointment settled?

Unlikely. The End User License Agreement (EULA) and/or Terms of Service state that the software is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. Additionally, you probably agreed when you hit the button that any dispute arising between you and the publisher or developer would be settled in arbitration by Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Service, Inc. (“JAMS”) in San Francisco, CA. The US is not exactly consumer friendly. However, if you’re a citizen of the European Union or perhaps elsewhere, you cannot be EULA’d or ToS’d out of your right to seek relief in court.

That said, companies cannot ToS their way out of fraud. And nothing in the licensing agreement or terms of service can prevent government agencies from going after them. Thus my previous suggestion for those who feel particularly aggrieved.

Been trying to get this Sim to work even after installing the latest patch still won’t launch no further than the blue bar going half way across the screen then crashes to desktop what a load of sxxx.

Do a clean reinstall of windows.

Why would you have to do a clean install of windows to get a game to work. That is completely unnecessary. I could see reinstalling video drivers and some other steps to make sure things are up to date but a clean install of windows. I doubt he is having issues installing, playing other games. It’s ridiculous you would have to factory reset your computer just to get this sim running.
