If FS2024 will have the same flying possibilities as Flight simulator FS2020, but better and more powerful engine, and more realistic sceneries, better graphics, weather, and so on…
Of course it would be attractive to purchase it.
Please let it have also free flight mode, not only silly scenarios.
If 3rd party sceneries from FS2020 will be compatible, then its perfect, no wasted money.
Appreciate your concerns (I to have my concerns), but I believe this discussion will end up being just like the others because, in my honest opinion, it is becoming very monotonous. Let’s focus on having fun with MSFS. Everything that has been discussed in previous discussions is just conjecture.

They are not going to take away a player’s ability to fly from point A to point B and I am rather astonished how many people saw that trailer and decided we could ONLY do jobs in 2024 and couldn’t fly where we want in what we want… you know? Like in every other MSFS before 2024.
We have the whole freaking globe. Of course we can chart a course and fly where we want in the sequel.
Some things are so obvious, we shouldn’t need to wait for official confirmation.
They are just adding MORE things to do within that whole freaking globe besides JUST flying from A to B.

since 1995, every two years…FS2002, FS2004, FSX…

I mean if you have gamepass, for me its an easy choice especially if everything is getting transferred. There wont be a need to stay on MS2020. But if you look at it as buying a full priced product, thats up to you if you think $70-$100 is worth the sequel.
Let’s better say more polished. I doubt it has a new engine as in this case most add-ons from MSFS (2020) won’t work anymore as promised. Also from FS8 to FSX and even to Flight it was the same engine but a new iteration which included new features and fixes (besides Flight on which many features were cut as not needed [basically all AI, most navigation (IFR especially) and most ATC related things]).
I think MSFS 2024 will not ultimately replace MSFS, there is no urgent need to move as I’m sure the 2024 version will still use the same servers for data. So the same tiles in a new version will be used as well as the same PG data but maybe on client side data will handled differently. The good thing is that if they update tiles and PG for MSFS 2024 it will also be updated for MSFS (2020). Authentication on Xbox also is unlikely to change because it’s more kind of a standard right now. Maybe you will also still be able to see multiplayer aircraft which use the 2024 version? We will find out.
However I feel like it will take the same road as FS9 vs FSX on which many people still used the FS9 version even if FSX was already a decade old just because the new sim didn’t offer enough changes for there personal taste

I guess this fear comes from MS Flight as it was just that but “free to play”. However even it’s name was basically cut down so this was expected.
Right now it more looks like the move from FS9 to FSX when it comes to the mission thing, adding more RPG elements to make things also interesting for these kind of people, giving the simulation aspect more sense instead of "fly from a to b and follow the rules as described by the FAA). It’s adding edge scenarios which still look realistic and common (firefighting nowadays is unfortunately pretty common, rescuing Instagramers from cliffs too…).
I think it’s the usual group of people speaking up here again, mainly flying flight sims “since 1984” which think simulators can only be simulators if there are no optional fun, experimental or fictional aspects added (mainly to be found on AVSIM)
Personally I welcome more story elements, especially realistic ones as previewed. Firefighting surey will be fun as well as rescue missions. Others I don’t like I just won’t play and that’s fine.
If some 12 year old is looking to have some fun within the simulator he/she should have that! It’s the next generation of real pilots if this group is slowly taken into the sensation of flight and one should not forget about that!
Agree! We don’t fly only to push buttons, switch switches, and slide sliders, do we?
We fly to do things in an active world. Interact with people, objects, and the world itself.
It’s a flight simulator, not a plane simulator, if you get what I mean.
