Yes, I must agree. I started with MSFS not long ago, in January. I was in hospital for an extended time, and started streaming the sim on my iPad and playing with an Xbox controller. I don’t even remember how I got into it, I think I saw a You Tube video. Now I have the peripherals and controls and I fly on a 48in OLED screen with a 5800x3D and a 4090 (my gf is one more purchase away from throwing me out of the house). It will sound stupid, but I still think really fondly of those first days on the iPad. I didn’t have any worries about settings or equipment or optimising or anything. I’m trying to get back to the vibe of those first days - just enjoying the experience. Lately, there is always some perceived little problem I need to fix or some optimisation I can make. Currently, I wonder whether upgrading to AM5 and getting a 7950x3D will solve all my problems……but of course it won’t. The problem is that I have become insatiable, and it is, as you say, because the sim just isn’t optimised. Every other game just looks AMAZING on my setup, even Cyberpunk on full ray tracing settings sings. But MSFS…….I can never quite be happy with it. There’s always some screen tearing or stuttering or scenery loading weirdness, etc etc. I think we all need to remember that the reason we ended up here is because we fell in love with this magical experience of flight simulation and it doesn’t matter what hardware you have, it is actually imagination and wonder that carries you away. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
