I bought the Nemeth Designs Yak 18T long time ago from the Nemeth Designs own website. I still have version 1.01.
I believe they are up to 1.04 now. But I have been unable to update mine because I cannot even go onto the https://www.nemethdesigns.com/ website to enter my account. When I browse there using Chrome or Firefox, I get this message:
403 ## Forbidden
Access to this resource on the server is denied!
I have emailed them using their facebook email address: no response.
Since they won’t even reply to emails, I just gave up.
There are lots of other brands of planes to fly besides Nemeth, I don’t have customer service problems with Aerosoft, FlyingIron, Blackbox, PMDG. So I use their planes instead.
I just clicked on your link and was taken right into their site.
Updates are available from a click spot on the header.
Unfortunately, as previously mentioned their Yak has none.
Here is a pic
While Mr. Nemeth has occasionally helped me and fixed issues from time to time, he and his team (assuming it’s not a solo project) are largely dormant and unresponsive. They rarely update their aircraft and ignore major issues. All of that said, I do enjoy flying the Yak-18T. It has some issues including pretty bad sounds and a broken turn coordinator, but it’s fun to fly. His website has also broken quite a few times, usually after releases and/or updates.
Time and date is correct.
I removed my virus program from this computer (it was bitdefender).
I tried Firefox, Chrome, Edge and I get this:
They do not answer my emails. They do not answer my message filled out on their facebook page.
My emails included an image of my purchase receipt from their website when I bought the plane.
Perhaps they have no idea how to update my purchase, but they won’t even email back for 2 days now.
The good news is I paid very little because the plane is inexpensive.
It’s very long flaps are wonderful, providing little lift but lots of drag, they make high speed landings very easy. And you can come in at full cruise speed, drop the flaps and just land. Very little stall protection but at such high speeds you don’t need to worry about that. It runs straight along the runway no rudder issues. It’s great practice for learning to land warbirds which also need to do high speed landings.
The link is working for me on Edge. It would seem to me that your router has blacklisted them, possibly listed as adult content in error and therefore being filtered. Accessing your router settings would be the done thing and your ISP’s website should have instructions.
I can browse to any and all sites on the internet, except NemethDesigns.
I have never used a VPN.
I could and did visit NemethDesigns when I visited to make the purchase back in July 2021.
My best guess is that NemethDesigns has added my IP address to a blocked list for some strange reason. If my IP address was different, then just like you all, I could probably get in there, log in, and download the update.
Yep, that was my problem. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that before.
I just went to the neighbors and used their wifi to login (because they have another IP address).
Nemeth site came up, logged in, and I DL’d the latest version Yak.
Came back to my house and Nemeth website is 403 forbidden again.
But I have the updated YAK now.
Meanwhile I an go to any and all other internet sites just fine here on this computer at my house.
Proof that Nemeth’s security system had flagged my IP address as suspicious.
I suppose that means they are trying to block illegal plane robbers.
But I paid and have the receipt, so it was probably just their security system malfunctioning.
If it stops robbers, then strong security like that is fine by me.
I read somewhere that one of the bigger MSFS addons had tens of thousands of illegal downloads of one of their addons.
The YAK is great because of those long barn door flaps that actually act like a speed brake a lot and
and like lift force flaps only a little. So you can scream in really fast on landings, the flaps will drop your speed down really just as fast. I like that. Easy to land.
You’re overthinking it. Most protection systems are run by lists produced by a handful of companies. Your IP address will usually change from time to time and it sounds like you’ve been allocated an address that’s been used by someone who’s been doing something they shouldn’t have. Usually if you switch your router off for 15 minutes and then switch it back on, you might get a different IP address.
Sidenote here that 100% of Nemeth’s emails have always gone to spam for me. I have no idea why. I actually issued a chargeback once because I couldn’t download the product and he contacted me through PayPal and was like please check spam, I have emailed you back several times… sure enough, he had.
