Is no one testing the Updates?!

Performance is better, this is the only thing that has improved.
The rest what we got are bugs and more bugs like really?!
They destroy themselves.
Just sad

How do you mean? They seem to have fixed a lot. Sometimes a couple of new bugs appear which happens but they are doing fine. Being negative about everything is easy even if you don’t know much about their line of work and the things they have to deal with to overcome obstacles.

Asobo is working their behinds off I’m very impressed!

What bugs? that tells everyone alot (bugs) so i guess you destroyed yourself.

Maybe an engine shutting itself down on their “most complete” airliner is a bug critical enough to not allow this update be released just yet? Or the PFD turning off mid-flight too?

If you have any mods for that aircraft, you may need to remove them…

Live Weather still isn’t fixed.

KMGM montgomery, alabama is showing winds 104 at 5 kts on the world map menu. When loaded into the sim the in cockpit wind shows that direction at 1kt in the Cessna 208.

Aviationweather.gov metar shows current weather conditions at KMGM as 040 at 24kts gusting 36kts and within a hurricane/tropical storm.

it’s obvious there is a problem at Asobo. they have very talented developers but some of the teams are not doing their work properly.
maybe it’s related to covid and remote working or I don’t know, but it’s clear to me something is not right.

they spent 2 weeks for hotfix, 1 month for first update but it was ready 2 weeks ago. So the developers are quiet efficient because they had this 2 weeks ago, they probably fixed some of the issues we’re having for the next release. this is ridiculous way to release updates. what is the point of waiting for weeks to get it tested if bugs aren’t fixed or detected ??? it feels like they send a version to the test team, and focus on the next version without caring about the bugs on the version they sent. so we have to wait another 2 to 3 weeks at least

Unfortunately, I can confirm some serious bugs mentioned above. After takeoff with A320 , suddenly power went out, the plane went down.
Sometimes after loading the flight and I am still at parking in cold dark state, the buttons (battery, external power) are not responding at all. They are clickable but nothing happens. Reloading the scene fixes the issue.
Navigation screens are blank randomly. If you click “tune in xxx” via the menu, the radio lcd does not get updated with the freq at all. And so on…
This is without any mod, only changed the livery. A320 got into some serious trouble now. I’ll upload these bugs to YouTube once I have time as proof.

I am not likely to complain but indeed. Bush trips were going well before the patch has been released and now it is just not working at whole. I hope it will be fixed quite quickly because in that case, it is just decreasing quality of the game.

Anyway, I am sure the fixed a lot of other things…

Planes plummeting out of the sky with autopilot on after exiting drone mode has been fixed too.

C208 autopilot trys to show you how nice and green the earth in a rather dramatic way, aka slams you in the ground. winds are 5kt in europe too. so big improment for the rest of the world eu not so much ,)

Good parts are Loading times and Performance.

The airspeed and altitude on the PFDs in glass cockpits is choppy when they’re moving now also. They moved smoothly before the update. Everything else is running smoothly so far except those indicators.

Actually, that was the first thing I did, as I foresaw potential issues if a file was changed based of the previous patches values.

maybe thats somthing to doo with the new glass cockpit refesh rate option. higher rates may be worth a test?

Normally I would agree with your point of view / state of mind.
But there are vital bugs that basically shouldn’t be missed during normal testing.
Just for example:

  • Unable to start engine on A320 when at the gate (cold and dark)
  • Unable to adjust sensitivities for any controller
  • Unable to see numbers that you are on radio

Lack of enough testing before releasing the patch. Just the fact. A lot of people here was able to discover these bugs in minutes after update finished. So it should be able qualified QA team in ASOBO. They simply didn’t retest many of scenarios. Maybe because of lack of time / budget / people? Don’t know. They didn’t tell us. Instead of that they celebrated the Patch #2 release with us…

I’m not negative, these are just facts. And I’m not angry just sad. Because they promised a lot of things to us and the consequent relaity is slightly different. Hope they wil improve these parts of their software development methodology, because it’s not sustainable in long term perspective.

I found that setting and set it to HIGH and it looks much better now, thank you. Biggest issue still is the weather not matching real weather. IDK where they get their data from, but its not loading accurate up-to-date weather into the sim

Some additional notes on testing. As the experienced software developer / architect / team leader I’m 100% sure that testing is one of the most important phases of sw development.

Even developers are just men. Men do errors, that’s very natural. Complex systems (fligt sim is very complex one) are more tend to errors. Testing is here to reveal these errors and let devs to deal with them, ideally before letting users to use it. Therefore testing should be taken seriously and needs to try to cover as much as possible.

When there are basic errors / bugs like in this patch, they simply didn’t make enough testing, didn’t take it seriously enough. :frowning: Period.

I just notice that however that was at ground level. Once I was up over 500 feet wind was kicking in. Still not totally accurate but there was definitely wind.

I’ve had commands randomly issued without my input:

  • parking brakes activate randomly on the ground or in the air (fun when it happens during taxi or takeoff or just as you land)
  • flaps extend / retract themselves
  • autopilot turns itself on / off at random intervals
  • autopilot switches modes (NAV to HDG), APPR turns itself off, ALT mode kicks in for no reason.
(this makes the AP absolutely useless)
  • ignition switching off and turning off the engine mid-flight
  • panels like ATC, map, objectives randomly open / close for no reason
  • light switches turning themselves on and off
  • game pauses / unpauses itself

And this is all without any input from me.

But hey, we have new voices and a couple of fps more now.

I was playing before the patch. All was fine. Post patch, all this started happening. Tried plugging peripherals into different USB ports, restarting the game, rebooting PC, etc and nothing helps.

I did notice though that these are all commands I have programmed into my X56 throttle and switches. Doesn’t seem to trigger any commands not programmed to that controller. In case it was hardware issues, I tried other games, and nothing unusual happening there. Everything was fine.

EDIT:

I’ve put a ticket in for this issue. Hopefully this gets fixed, as this makes the game completely unplayable for me now.

Lol.

My observations so far:

  • Of the 2 new voices, the female voice sounds incredibly robotic. There just isn’t any love for women is there?

  • Apparently this has sort of screwed up ATC even further as the AI assist isn’t working anymore. Also, I’m getting directed by ATC to contact strange (and incorrect) places now.

  • My graphics settings reset themselves randomly for some reason. Seems to be holding now but… weird.

  • Mousewheel for camera zooming died for a few minutes, and then randomly came back.

  • OH YES! There is a new button for active pause in the drop-down menu at the top of the screen that looks like they took a stock image off the internets and just dropped it in randomly. It isn’t sized or edited to look anything like the rest of the buttons.

To quote myself from another thread: “I have a hard time believing that in the span of two weeks since the last patch, they’ve had the time to come up with stable fixes to such a broad swath of issues.”

I guess we’ll see if anything else zany happens.
