Is RTX 4090 The Real Deal?

I think you understood wrong, i never said in 4090 you will get just 3-4 fps more compared to 3090. What I said was that between 4090 founders edition and aib models, founders edition makes sense. Aib models may be able to hit 600-700 watts power target, founders edition can hit 650 watts if you unlock the power target using afterburner, but with that increase in power target, you will only gain 3-4 fps compared to stock power target of 450 watts. The original question was if the poster should get a founder edition or a AIB model. I answered that.

Want, and need are entirely separate things.

Missed the context, my apologies.

The (probably) two cards in stock in my country where scalped away 15.01h The same procedure as everytime. That joke is’nt funny anymore. Frustrating.

No cent to scalpers!

They are going hand to mouth on Scan at the moment. I refreshed the page, and four appeared with Buy buttons. The next refresh two of those buttons, and the next they were all gone again.

I wonder how long it is before they hit eBay…

I don’t even know if it was scalpers in the US or just another disastrous launch from Best Buy and Nvidia. Those of us online at the SECOND it went live didn’t even get a chance to purchase. Such a joke.

FE cards are already appearing on eBay, with their customary £500+ markup, naturally.

Same for me, got one in the cart the second they went live and they were gone when i clicked check out… frustrating

It’s okay, they’ll likely bring more stock online over the next few weeks. The only reason I swapped my GPU last time was because my existing one was dying on me. Now I have the luxury of not having to upgrade. Which isn’t a bad thing as a few other purchases loom, like a new e-bike, and those Virtual Fly Switcho devices.

Could not get an FE version in Oz, but got an Asus TUF OC version instead. On its way.

I got a bad feeling that this is going to be another repeat of how 3080 launched. Most scalpers getting hands on these.

Sold out in minutes everywhere.

Yes, because they no doubt did absolutely nothing to keep bots out. They could have had a somewhat convoluted way where you have to go through several layers of two factor authentication, maybe an email response etc. to add it to your basket. But I bet they had none of that.

How does that saying go, about not learning from ones mistakes…

Scan have tweeted that they’re confident it wasn’t bots. Not sure how they’d know, but the immediate ‘out of stock’ could simply have been triggered by volume of attempted orders.

I wasn’t planning on buying from there, but certainly had the opportunity. They were popping up for 20 seconds at most intermittently. Can’t wait to see those Scan receipts appear on eBay.

All Nvidia FE cards sold in the UK have been via Scan.

Edit: Since the 30-series launch anyway

Not this release, but it was for the 3000 series. They aren’t carrying any 4000 series this time around, according to their website.
