Is the 787-XE Project of Github dead?

I’ve been trying to follow the 787-XE project but there hasn’t been any movement on the project since December 2020. Is this project dead? I know absolutely nothing about coding – less than nothing, seriously. But I believe I could effectively manage the project if anyone wants to work on it. I’d love to see the 787-X attain an equal quality level with the FBW A32NX. Is there anyone who would like to help? Would anyone from the FBW team be willing to help get this program off the ground? Literally? At this point, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think so, I just removed my stargaze from it the other day as I hadn’t seen any movement in the repository for a while.

They can’t do anything because Asobo refuses to decrypt the files.

Seeing as how receiving access to any files is a moot point, and that Asobo has no intentions in making the aircraft more flyable, it is just a waste of sdd space. So sad.

They say it’s not dead, rather on hold, and it’s possible to mod the jet without breaking the DRM. However, my understanding is it’s a big pain in the you-know-what. They’re working on the 757 too…so maybe they’re just dedicating resources in a more-beneficial direction? Also, QW said their 787 will be out in Q2 perhaps- so that’s a study level jet right there. But, that’s old news- haven’t heard much from the developer since October so…Yeah. :man_shrugging:

Paying for a good aircraft is not the point. High quality freeware aircraft is the purpose. ZIBO level is the desire.

From the discord:

@everyone Firstly Project Dreamliner is on hold and development has been stopped until Asobo/MS decides to grant us access to the files that we need, and on that note, we will not override DRM as it breaks EULA’s and wouldn’t look good for the freeware 3rd Parties. Secondly, beware the latest version of Project Dreamliner may be not compatible with the latest version of MSFS, Thirdly, We may be inactive but the project isn’t dead it’s been put on hold. Beep Boop Safe flying and enjoy the rest of your day/evening/night.

757, a220, a380, a350…they’re coming. There will be plenty to choose from. A good payware bird has advantages too, and they’re coming too.

Show me the A350.

For all practical purposes, it’s dead. Check out the Heavy Division 787H mod on Github at GitHub - Heavy-Division/B78XH: B78XH is an open source and free modification of default Boeing 787-10 in Microsoft Flight Simulator.. They have approached the process much like the A320NX team. Many interesting improvements to the 787.
