Is there a best range for the poly count

When making models what’s the best polycount your looking at for buildings, hangers etc…

Minimal polys, welded vertices, co-planar faces, baked textures, details faked with maps not geometry. If you do all that, polys will be low and nothing to worry about.

So many people don’t do it however and use geometry for detail, which is unnecessary.

I totally agree, you never get that close to them so they only have to look good at a distance, I don’t know why people forget about normal maps etc..

Agreed, but still would be nice to know what is the estimate number of max triangles for optimum performance for a high detailed GA aircraft for example.
