I see others with less random names.

Yeap, not cheap but I believe the reason is to prevent griefers to change their gamertag every other day for free. Still it could be done differently, maybe time based? Just spitballing here

I don’t need to change my gamertag. It is different I want my gamertag to be used in this forum.
Is there a setting to update the tag or do I just wait for some unknown time to have something unknown happen?
I’ll add that just yesterday I used the Xbox Console Companion in Windows 10 2004 to change my avatar and that has come into this forum but the names remain different.
I finally figured this out. So a hint was that the gamertag is supposed to become your forum username.
Solution:
I logged out of ALL three parts of this website is called; MSFS Home, Zendesk, and Forums; each one was in a different state. At this point I was just being overly cautious logging out of all three but don’t understand how they are connected. The MSFS Home had my correct gamertag as did the game.
Logout for the forums is hidden. Rt-click your avatar upper right. Then click on the gear or settings icon and then click Logout at the bottom of the list. Closing the page or browser may not cause a logout.
Next I had to reboot my computer.
When I logged back in with my Microsoft account my gamertag became my Forum name.
I found a few forms posts that suggested they had to change the name of a hidden folder to force some sort of cyber gymnastics to perform a miracle. I did not.
