Is There A Wishlist Alternative That Works?

Since the early days of MSFS 2020 there have been wishlist items requesting the restoration of features that were in FSX be restored into Microsoft Flight Simulator. It was hoped that most of these would show up in 2024, but that didn’t happen. I’m wondering if there is an alternative way to get these features on Asobo’s list of action items, such that they get addressed. If this can be accomplished MSFS would be more useful, enjoyable, and immersive.

These features include, but are not limited to:

  • True Multiple Windows that can have any camera view in them.
  • Default startup airplane+location+time+weather
  • Complete checkpoint save/load that retains airplane+location+time+weather+altitude+direction+aircraft settings
  • Classic Tower/FlyBy views in External Camera (video creation)
  • Ability to export/import controls, assistance, and general options
  • Mouse and Keyboard Microsoft Windows standards throughout User Interface
  • Ability to save aircraft to favorites list
  • More user friendly (KISS based) user interface
  • Cockpit lighting adjustment
  • Several others

NOTE: If you have something that you used in FSX that was not carried over into it’s replacement (MSFS) please add it here.

What do you want us to discuss then?

I guess that trying to think of ways to get Asobo’s attention and get these features back into their flight simulator is speculation. My frustration is showing. If it hasn’t happened in 4 years and two releases it’s never going to happen. Never mind.

I also wish for everything in your list. It’s unfortunate so many staple features of FSX were never brought into MSFS, and my hope for them to come to FS2024 is similarly low.

Exactly! Although it’s pure speculation, my theory is that when the product was developed, neither the managers nor the lead programmers were flight simmers. Consequently they didn’t know what to include in their product’s features**. They did a monumental job on what they did, but left some glaring holes. Disappointing that during the last four years they didn’t patch the holes, even though we told them where they were.

** Although studying FSX should have provided a template.

I miss the ability to start a flight in the air pointing the direction you want and at the height you want.

EDIT: And actually being able to change these and also the aircraft position during a flight.

Why do you think that your wishes should get special attention? Everyone can put their wishes into the wishlist and the community can vote.
If you think that your points are super critical for every simmer, put it in there and the votes will explode and you‘ll have your attention.
I think there‘s no need for a special expedite lane.

It would be wonderful if your action plan worked. To succeed requires cooperation between two parties – one to create the list, and one to take action on the list. The latter is missing in action. Currently there are 247 wish lists that have over 100 votes each. Some of them are years old.

There are 3,032 open wishlist items. These were created by the users in good faith in an effort to make MSFS better. Is MSFS 2020 good now? Yes. Would it be better if the high vote requests were implemented? Yes. Are some of these wishlist items show stoppers? Maybe, depending on your perspective.

Because the Wishlist process is not working, and because the majority of the higher priority items were not implemented in the “new and improved” 2024, it is out of desperation that the quest for a more functional way to request improvements is seeked. But history has shown that such a quest is futile. It is jousting at windmills. Why? Because there is no way that Asobo can devote manpower to addressing these wishlists, given their current situation. So yes, it is an unreasonable expectation. And yes, I should have known better. What can be done? Hope that 3rd Party Developers can come up with solutions, knowing that they are handicapped by not having needed access to internals.

My wish is that someday your solution works. :slightly_smiling_face:
