What I see is that topics that won’t praise the sim and rather point at its flaws (and there is a lot of them, especially considering what we’ve been promised before the release a year ago) get closed long before 30 days of no commenting. Well, thanks they are just getting closed and not deleted.
Yes.
10 character limit
Nah. I don’t praise the sim when no praise is justified - never got deleted , canceled or anything.
I think they are very tolerant also when it comes to content and tone of the criticism.
Unfortunately as the OP, you have no control over your thread. It’s less about the content of your opening post, and more about what the others turn your thread into.
There’s absolutely no censorship taking place and the mods do a stellar job.
I would not say real censorship, at most a greater tolerance towards even strong and often equally unjustified positions that boast an absence of problems and that dismiss everything on hardware \ mod \ etc user problems related.
In any case official forum of any software\game are not a good pool of objectivity since they are managed (usually) by those who in fact can control the narrative in a more decisive way (if necessary).
Usually time speaks better than any forums, the type of support that a software receives are often worth much more than vehement forum criticisms or heartfelt forum praise , regardless of how well written these are made. Often letting the facts speak for themselves is the best criticism that can be made or the best support that can be given.
Hm. With a product that’s aimed at various target audiences there will always be a conflict. I think flagging messages is enough otherwise we will have only “oh, I miss my tree” type of posts at the top of the page.
As the OP, you actually do have quite a lot of control.
You can change the Topic Title, and your opening post.
I have found the Mods to be very helpful and accommodating in helping you, as the “Topic Author” do get other things done like.
Closing the THREAD … (Hint. If you do this, try to make sure yours is the last post, and then you can always have the last word, and change it as appropriate)
If anyone hijacks your thread, or is TROLLING etc, the Mods seem to be more likely to respond to your requests (as Topic Author) to delete or get posters to get back on track, or move those posts to a new Topic.
If you find any particular poster(s) objectionable to you (or whatever), you can always add them to your Ignore list.
A good lesson learnt is NOT to try to deal with any Inappropriate posts yourself, and escalate the situations, ask the MODS deal with it.
(Difficult to do at time when some really P you off, but far better to let the Mods handle it !!)
“Jack of all trades , master of none” is a figure of speech which I think reflects the situation and manages to anger both supporters and detractors at the same time ![]()
Now it looks like Asobo bit off more than they could chew. I just hope I’m wrong.
TBH, this is about the worst forum I have come across for censorship. Maybe they have to be a bit more careful than the usual forums I visit being an official forum and all that. I really will have to be careful what I say on this one.
The sim is Microsoft’s not Asobo’s
I have. I have “complained” or put in a subject negative thoughts and my post was silenced, not deleted but was closed. So YES, there IS censorship on this forum. Now, I LOVE MSFS since Windows 95 days, but I feel this forum is for cheerleaders of the product and not harsh criticism. Am I correct? Well it has happened each time in the past month my post was not all for MSFS. I do not look at PO’d people as bad posts, rather showing MS and OSBO that their results are making people unhappy, thus make changes. Afterall, this has NEVER been advertised as a BETA or work in process, but it has. Also, I believe it will always be a work in process with never ending updates, as that is the culture of MS with Windows. With all this said, and to all people who will bash me again, I will end with saying I LOVE MSFS regardless !!!
I haven’t seen what I would consider to be censorship at all. Some “critical” threads are just harsh and mean, or simply irrational. I can understand the underlying frustration that caused them in some cases, but often, they’re breaking community rules and are closed as a result.
Other threads that are critical (either fairly or not) are typically left when they don’t break rules. And what typically tends to happen is that first the white knights appear to defend MS / Asobo’s honour, often with a wave of post flagging anything that they don’t like. That prompts the haters on the other side to join in, the conversation quickly devolves into name calling and other community rule violations, and gets closed.
That’s not what I would consider censorship.
Haha. This is the most censored forum I have ever post on. If you arn’t a asobo or Microsoft fanboy and don’t stroke them you get flagged. If you just tell it like it is you get flagged. It’s like they are trying to minimize the shock to whoever (Asobo/Microsoft) may be reading these posts. Sad really. Just let people vent and post.
Hello all,
we usually only close topics, where criticism passes the border of being constructive.
All topics & posts must adhere to the Code of Conduct. Topics or posts that violate the Code of Conduct will either be closed or hidden. We want this forum to be a welcoming environment for all to discuss openly about MSFS. To do this, Microsoft has setup the Code of Conduct as a guide.
With that said, I am closing this topic because similar discussions went unconstructive and people started attacking each other.
Thank you and enjoy your day.
