The problem is if you put everything in a 13Gb update every time they release a World Update, those with an SSD without unlimited storage might start opening threads to complain about their valuable space being occupated with regions they are not gonna use.
I know of people that only fly Europe/Asia, so they do not install the USA update for example.
Having everything in parts allows you to customize what you want in your sim. It is modular and works really well imo.
Can’t argue with anything you have said and I’ve been one of the lucky ones.
The stress and hassle I see some folks go through is insane. You’d expect it from a small indie game platform but certainly not MS or Adobo for that matter. I don’t blame the devs as they have been put over the barrel by MS/Asobo management!
And why one day later? Why not everything at the same time? I am constantly bombed by updates/hotfixes and download/reinstall-errors by windows store/xbox. I don´t know how often I had to re-download the whole sim (SU 5 for example) even if I didnt touch the installation since it was installed back last year.
We have MS/Xbox/Windows-Store and some other providers involved here, and I am totally convinced that this is not Asobos fault, but at the end of the day Microsoft offered a product where some of the used services are not working as expected, and thats the problem.
Oh the installation manager for MS Store is absolutely terrible I give you that, I fortunately bought it in Steam and never had a problem with installations but you are right in that regard.
What is more annoyig is that MSFS says update in the store, closes itself and opens the store - BUT NO UPDATE IN THE STORE!
Took me ages to discover that I actually need to install another microsoft thing - “Xbox” app - update MSFS from within that. GeeWhizz Batman - you would think a software developer would know better.
I’d just like the downloads to be controlled in a separate Launcher so i can continue using my GPU for other games whilst MSF stuff downloads in the background, I understand the appeal of having it all in-game but I don’t like it, much prefer the traditional way.
I would suggest devs to delay more in time the updates and be sure that everything is ok before the release, and give exact instructions about what we have to do (if we have to do anything). Whas is not admisible is that I have to spent 1 day of frustration finding finaly stupid requeriments of MS Store, and instructions of devs don’t give me the clue.
Please, the value of my time is as good as yours, and I just want to enjoy a game, not to frustrate my life with your lack of care.
About MS Store folder distribution and mess…, I think everything is already said. I can’t even use a simple reshade with this game because of the Store policy and security silly stuff.
And not mentioning that a game that is mainly focused on selling mods appart (even with ADVERTISING into the game) is creating so many problems with them.
The order is this:
1st - NO PROBLEMS for customers
2nd - To improve the game, if possible
Don’t missunderstand the order, unless you don´t care
