I purchased MSFS2020 Standard and after flying it for a while I decided to move up to the Deluxe version to obtain the additional GA aircraft.
I cannot find anywhere I can purchase the upgrade without paying the full $89.99 price which I refuse to do. Having to pay an additional $89.99 for a product that I already own is outrageous.
I am willing to pay the difference to obtain the aircraft.
Please send me instructions on how to do this, or better yet, add the option to the marketplace.

The upgrade is priced as the upgrade is, you have a choice buy, or don’t.
You don’t already own the upgrade…
Is this a Troll post? It has too be, right?
This is not really any different to any other product you will buy when there are different variants at different price-breaks.
The incentive is usually to entice the purchaser to opt to spend a little more to obtain a better overall deal. Really no different if you buy a regular, large or XL drink at a fast-food outlet.
However, I would add though, is that the MS store does not publish how much the upgrade cost is - this I find rather poor and leaves users such as yourself feeling disgruntled because your initial decision was not really well informed.
Do yourself a favor and go to Premium Deluxe - much better deal, only $25 more then if you bought upfront.
No, this is not a Troll Post.
I have been flight simming for almost 20 years and I have never run into this before.
I am willing to pay for the difference, but I will not pay the full price just to obtain a couple of models. I only fly GA because I find flying Tube Liners akin to working as a bus driver, and what is the point of having the surburb scenery if you cannot see it from angels 35.
Had I been made aware of this policy I would have purchased the Deluxe version from the get-go.

You might want to wait until the planes available in the upgraded editions are actually functional.
Premium Deluxe is the series I want, but not enough to shell out another $90 for it.
I think people are misunderstanding what you’re saying. You already bought standard (probably for $60), and are looking for a way to upgrade your standard to deluxe by paying the difference ($30), instead of now owning a full copy of standard, and a full copy of deluxe.
Asobo has said from the beginning that you should buy the version you are interested in. An upgrade would be much more expensive. This is how I did it: First tested Standard for one month, then Gamepass disabled and then bought Premium Deluxe.
I mean, they weren’t hiding it at all. Depending on how much time you’ve spent in the sim, you may be able to request a refund and just buy the full PD version outright.
I would be happy to do that.
As I said earlier, $90.00 is more than I am willing to pay for 5 aircraft of unknown quality.
MSFS2020 is like an infant, and I am sure that it will grow into an excellent sim with study level aircraft as time passes.
I will be patient and I am sure that eventually I will get what I am looking for.
The whole pricing structure doesn’t make sense AT ALL. Even from a selling point of view it’s not smart. Why wouldn’t you offer (gentle) upgrades to more expensive versions. As it is, MS is probably missing revenue because a lot of people will refuse to pay double, moving from basic to other editions. ( and they will just stick with the basic version) There goes a selling opportunity.
Kinda offtopic but since you mentioned it, I just wanted to say I totally have to agree with this, after having been dealing with almost every single home desktop flight sims (except may be Flight Gear) for over a decade (started in 2004).
Even the simple autopilot systems in most little GAs bore me to death. I put them on AP and watch paint dry (or is that the point of it all?). This is also why I have never been able to do long-haul (or even mid-long-haul) flights in any sim so far like how some Prepar3D and XP11 twitch streamers do. Regardless, I want PMDG, FSLabs etc to hurry up and please my fellow flight simmers who are die-hard fans of auto-liners and call themselves “hardcore simmers”.
When I used to use Prepar3D and XP11 I bought all auto-liners from PMDG, and then one from FSLabs and another one from Flight Factor for XP11. But never used them. Feels like I wasted such a huge load of cash. Well I console myself now by telling myself that at least I supported a good cause and some great, talented developers if nothing else, and didn’t spend it on bad stuff. I don’t understand how long-haul airliner pilots in real world can do this on a regular basis.
I’ll definitely buy all MSFS aircraft from PMDG again very probably, as soon as they come out, but only for practicing various failures (cause they are…exciting?).
In the meantime I’m having a ball with the default GAs in MSFS 2020
As for your initial question/issue, unfortunately it is what it is, and unless Microsoft (and people who make financial decisions for them) change this policy, you have to pay a bit more extra than what you think you should pay for the upgrade.
you might donate the money for those in need next time
EZ with so many flight attendants on board
You are right, I don’t own the upgrade but I do own everything but 5 aircraft.
I have been flying MS since FS95 and over the years I have spent over 4K on addons, so please do not mistake me for a Newbee.
Oh, BTW, none of us own our software unless we wrote it, we only rent it.
Exactly my point without knowing up-front what the upgrade costs are you can only make assumptions. Clearly, not everyone thinks the same way perhaps - personally I was expecting the upgrade route to be less cost-effective i.e. that it would cost more than the difference between the versions.
And now you are counting $30? Are you kidding?
I’ll just wait for the developer community.
