Issue with C208 Grand Caravan controls

I started back up with MSFS after a year+ pause and updated everything. I really like flying the 208b, but something strange is now happening.

When I first start a flight, my aileron, throttle and trim controls are “wonky” for lack of a better word. For example when I push left on the aileron control, the plane banks left just a little - but the VC view of the yolk shows it turning right. In addition to this the control just doesn’t work correctly. If I push it all the way left then all the way right to its extents - after a second or so it will “snap around” and recenter itself and then everything works correctly. A similar situation exists for several primary flight controls.

This only seems to be an issue with the 208b, with other planes I don’t have this issue. Has anyone experienced or heard of anything similar?

That sounds really weird. A couple of things to try.

Disconnect the yoke, and restart the sim. When spawned in, hold the 4 & 6 keys down on the numeric keypad. That’s aileron left/right. See if the behaviour is as you would expect.

Now connect the yoke, and re-test.

If you hadn’t said it works on other planes I would have suggest created a new, default profile for the yoke, but it might be worth a shot.

Also, check toy don’t have external programs controlling the yoke, such as SPAD.

What is it doing in the USB Game Controllers config screen in windows? is it all working there?

This issue I’m having actually occurs with no controllers connected at all. Right now, in MSFS all I have is keyboard and mouse and when I use the keyboard for aileron control it has the same issue.

I tried deleting the 208b and then reinstalling it using the content manager in case there was something corrupted with it’s config, but the behavior still persists.

Ok, found the issue. This particular plane is starting with AP on and I hadn’t realized that. In addition to that, it behaves strangely, visually, as described here: Flight controls move in reverse when on autopilot! (roll axis)

So once I moved to the extents of the controls, it breaks out of AP and things go back to normal. So easy fix (check check AP status once I start).

I have no idea why it would be starting with the AP on, but that makes sense given your earlier description.

I just loaded into and started up the C208 in the default livery and I am not seeing it start with the AP engaged.

I’d go back over your key bindings and see if there is something awry with any AP bindings.
