Issues with planes not starting. Anyone else?

I typically start cold and dark at a parking vs starting on the runway. I’ve looked up startup procedure for all the planes I typically fly and have never had any issue starting them. Until yesterday (Saturday, Sept 26).

Now, it’s hit or miss if the plane will start. Even the auto-start command won’t start the plane at that point. I’ve made sure planes have fuel, fuel tanks selected, etc where applicable. But still, the ■■■■ plane refuses to start. Seems like the only thing I can do is restart my flight (and deal with the load times associated with it). I’ve had this now happen with the C152, C172, Carenado C182, DA62 and TBM.

And in case someone was thinking of suggesting the magical, solve-all “delete your Community folder” suggestion, I’ve tried this. First flight after deleting, the C172 wouldnt’ start.

I think this is an issue with AI traffic, they interfere with your planes battery and it does not allow them to turn on. Try turning all traffic off in the Traffic section of the settings, this has helped me.

Yeah. That doesn’t help. Just tried it again with a DA62. Couldn’t get it started. Restarted the game. Managed to start the plane without issue. But couldn’t engage autopilot. It just refused to work.

Restarted again in offline mode, no AI, no nothing. Couldn’t start. Restarted the game. Switch planes / airports. Couldn’t get the AP to engage on the TBM. Restarted the flight. Everything worked fine.

Never had these issues before. There were zero changes to my computer (not even new software or drivers). I haven’t done anything. What the hell happened yesterday to cause this.

Deleting community folder could have broke it, I wouldn’t recommend doing that..

That just gets rid of any community mods / liveries. It recreated the Community folder on restart of the game without any said mods. All I had in there were liveries, which I moved to another folder (same result as deleting). Makes zero difference.

But these issues started before I messed with the Community folder, not after. Does exactly the same before and after.

It is related to traffic, but try turning the AI traffic models to “Generic.” This fixed not starting plus avionics bugs for me. This is a workaround for a bug. Hopefully they get it fixed.

From my followup post. No dice.

Sorry to hear about this. Hope you or Asobo, gets it sorted out soon.

It’s a very random thing. Now it seem like it’s about a 50-50 thing whether the plane will actually start or not. I’ve resorted to just starting on the runway instead. At least that ensures my plane will run.

But now I’ve noticed it’s also about 50-50 whether I can engage the autopilot or not. Not an issue for short sightseeing tours, but a massive pain when flying longer flights. The AP button refuses to activate. In some cases, other functions like setting HDG, ALT, etc will “work” in the sense I can set them, but I can’t engage them since AP doesn’t work.

Seriously, I don’t k now what’s going on. I had issues since the last patch, but nothing that prevented me from flying. These 2 issues randomly started yesterday for me.

I had a similar issue since the last patch that started days after the patch effecting starting and avionics. I do believe they will get it sorted out, but sorry my workaround didn’t work for you.

The phantom switches, avionics turning off, etc I’m aware of. That started happening to me immediately after last patch as well. I’ve managed to get around that by playing offline with no AI traffic.

This problem just started happening to me yesterday. Suddenly, performance of the sim seemed to have improved drastically for no reason, as was reported in the other thread on the matter. Noticed that immediately. But right then I also had issues with the planes not wanting to start or the AP not wanting to engage.

Thanks for your suggestion nonetheless.
